We have four cats, therefore kitty litter is a necessity and is readily available for when I have an "accident" with oil. Does anyone have a good solution for hair balls on carpet? All of those other options are money better spent on car projects.

Bishop, I can see the commercial now, you with your apron, dust pan and broom. JUST KIDDING! But, It brought to mind a Robin Williams bit. Here's what I do now. We have a paper shreader for all the junk mail; it's gotten worse than solicitation phone calls used to be ( thanks for the do not call registry). Anyway, I started putting the shreadings in a garbage sack; next thing I know the garbage sack's full! It's the "chewed up shreadings, not the ribbon type, but they'd work too. Throw the shreads on the spill, let it soak, sweep it up. Put a little solvent on the spot and do it again. Works pretty good too, does'nt cost anything, easy to pick up; then it can be burned in the furnace (works good as a fire starter), or tossed in the garbage. Stay tuned to learn how to turn old spark plugs into hand crafted gifts. Butch/56sedandelivery.

  4. Floor dry with some saw dust, crispy maple leaves and the dirt from sweeping the floor works pretty good. stomp on it and do the twist to get the stubborn goo.;)

If I spill a LOT, I'll go for the kitty litter, like someone else said, cheapest stuff is a all I need. If it's just the drippings from my Harley, I just sweep the rest of the floor into a pile on the spot, let it soak and sweep up the next day. Doesn't get any cheaper than that!

I use stray cats. even the smallest cat can soak up quite a bit of oil.

...and they are self cleaning so you can use them again and again.
