Here it is. I've been into cars since I was little (still only 30). When I was 7 my old man picked up a '35 ford pu. Mom told him it had to go so he told her it was my first car so i held him to it. @ 14 I tore into it repairing all the cancer and gettin her ready for high school. didnt get it done til I was 17 so I picked up a '62 mini to drive while I finished it. A few months after it was finished (as if they are ever finished) I got to drive it to H.A.N. in reno (proud moment for me) and blew out both front tires on the way tearing up my fenders. Shortly after that I lost a rear and finally scraped up enough $ to get some new treds. Being in highschool I just 1/2 arsed it so I could continue driving it, so now I'm building a spare frame with MII front, and 4 link rear (TCI), and a small block chevy (I know dont say it). The frame is almost complete so I can start swapping the body over as I redo each panel with a little more heart this time around. So how did I end up here? My other hobby is 4wheelin. I moved to WA from CA 4 years ago and left all my toys in CA. Suddenly I found the offroad forums and got hooked. In the last 4 years I've built 7 rigs from bartered internet parts for next to nothing. On valentines weekend I took a road trip down to Cali to pick up my high school sweet heart so I could get back to the rerestoration (the 35) I posted on all the 4wd forums to find a street rod forum and the H.A.M.B turn up a few times. I was hoping for a smaller more localized forum (love to barter) but I'll try to keep up here. My '35 is priority right now and then I'm headed back down to pick up my mini. After that I'll be putting the body from the spare frame onto my origional frame and building it with my son (he's 5, it may sit for awhile). eventually I'm gonna have to build a sedan so I can haul the whole family down to reno every year without having to drive 2 rigs. I've got 3 '35 pu's and dads got a '35 panel so I'll most likely try to find a '35 sedan just to keep the collection going. Alright I'll stop rambling and throw some pics at ya. The last time you'll see it on a trailer (hopefully) Finally home spare frame pics. And the body that came off the frame Theres truck #3 Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. The frame is in one side on the garage and the truck is in the driveway til I get the finishing touches done on my rock crawler. The I'll start a build thread with better detailed pics.
Cool truck, man!! I love it!! check out my 35' truck build: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=313603
Looks good. Love the wheels. I'm still torn between the wide whites on stock/reversed wires or big torque thrust II's. Thanx. Its pretty faded when its dry, but it was my first paint job 14 years ago. I'm stoked to be getting back to the rebuild.
Welcome from Tacoma Nice truck! I wish i was at that point, however i am just getting started on a 37 pickup, check out my album,s, there are four. I was just over in your side of the mountains in bridgeport wash on last Saturday and picked up a second 37 pickup and some of a 36 pickup. Looking forward to my build and yours. Mark
I have. Looks like you've got your hands full. I'm not really at that point cause I'm starting over. The P.O. cut the stock dash out and built a cheasy steal dash with a monte carlo cluster so I conpletely stripped the interior. I starter with a bare frame and installed total cost involved mustang II and rear 4 link coilovers. Got a sweet deal on a '70 vette 350 with flat tops, headers, cam, and intake, so its going in there with a t350 behind it. I still have to mount the power brake assy., mount a fuel tank, plumb the brakes and fuel, before I can strip it all back apart to blast and paint the frame. Then I get to tear the entire truck apart and clean up the body work (tore it up in high school) adn piece it back together on the new frame. Then it's getting a painless (or simillar) harness and a complete new interior. Finally I can start racking up the miles as I build another truck on the old frame with the body off the new frame. Hopefully by then my 5yo boy will show enough interest to get out in the garage and contribute to the build of his H.S. rod. Then I'm gonna build a 3rd truck from spare parts and probably try to trade it for a sedan so I can haul the whole family to the swapmeets and shows.
Thats my 8th one. This ones getting an exo cage so it lasts a little longer. I have a problem keeping the rubber side down, but thats what I build them for
