OK folks, I am relyin on you for your expert eyes or just opinions, this is all I have to see, as I don't pick up the car until the beginning of May when I get home from Iraq.

Bought the car from a guy in Corpus Christi TX, the history as I know it, the chevy has been in Central Texas it's whole life. If any one see's something or has a suggestion, it would help me out, as I am not sure what direction I would like to go.

Have seen some beautiful vehicles here on the H.A.M.B. Have read alot of the threads and posts. Again anything ya'll see please let me know. Love the site, the amount of info for a FNG is overwhelming.

For a reference, here's my poncho with 3 inches lowering and tons of trim delete. (it was a deluxe). You don't need to do much to just drive them, plus you have tons less trim than a pontiac would have.

I'd just drive it. very cool. Maybe somewhere down the line drop it a tad, lowering blocks in the rear. different wheelcovers could change the look and not cost much to do it. but its cool as is. Nice score!

i agree with just giving it a good stance, and driving it as is. it's different enough that you can enjoy it for awhile, then it will tell you what needs to be changed.

    stay safe, and thank you.

Thanks to everyone, guess I got lucky with the find. Any hints on dropping, I seen everyone discuss baggin, lowering blocks, and cutting springs. Any horror stories or info would help alot, plan on gettin dirty with her when I am on leave. Any shops in San Antonio that are good, right now I am tryin to find some with good reviews, a point in the right direction would be great. By the way Midnight 50 that is just another reason I am on this site, your car is beautiful.

Hey Hutch, if you do not mind my opinion I say chop the heck out of the top and slam that sucker! Nothing cooler than a chopped and channeled cruiser. In addition I would just like to say thank you for your service to our country. God bless you bro, I am glad you are coming home. Now go build that car, and use it to chase some fine American split tail.

I will continue with the three main points above:

    1. Thank you for your service, and take care of yourself. We rely on men and women like you.

    2. Slightly lowered stance would be a big and not too difficult improvement.

    3. Drive it a LOT. It is a neat old car.

These cars are so elegant in design and function, just a mild drop, a set of rear skirts, and you'll have a ride to be proud of. That said, you could also chop it, or chop, drop, and section:D

Get you butt home safe, okay? We need every Hamber we can lay our hands on!

^(skirts and lowered) that looks good. and thats about all it would really take to have a clean driver.

oh, and be sure to knock the sand off your boots before you get in.

stay safe and thank you for your service.

Oh man, many thanks. It's coming along. Here's another example for you on the drop. It's a photoshop I did recently of my car with another 1 inch drop on the 3 inch it already has. I've since done the extra inch of drop, but no pics taken so here's the chop pic. Turned out identical to the chop so might as well be a recent pic.

This would be an example of your car with a 4 inch drop.

Here is a Chevy like yours to show just how cool it could be with very little effort.

These cars take some thinking to decide what you want to do to them. They come with such a nice sweeping design that you don't have to severely alter them to make them look good. Best thing you can do to it is grab some beer and a chair and sit in front of it for an hour or two. You'll start imagining things going on it or coming off it until you decide what you like and don't like. Best thing you can do to these body styles are subtle mods that a Chevy or Poncho fan would notice. Pull a little trim off here, add something there. After you've had it a year and done all the little things to make it your own, then step it up. You'll have a good idea of what you want by then.

I don't think the Chevy have the luxury of their cousin Pontiacs when it comes to the notch and kick up in the rear of the frame. It should be fairly straight back there on the chevy, but on a Pontiac it has a factory mild notch and a ton of kick up so unless you are setting the frame on the ground you don't have to do anything (imagine how much headache that saves) so you'll likely have to do some frame work to go down low.

On the front you can delete a lot of trim and do a custom grill. Mine was cut, shortened and welded.
