well it looks good in photos....

but ground welds, no gussets on a thin frame, and undriveably low means pics are about all its good for.

i agree that grinding the welds down like that is not as strong, i used a thicker wall tubing, its not as thin as you guys may think. i had thought about all this before i did this. the perch is welded inside and out and only the outside is ground down. i have beveled every joint to get max penetration. the car is low but is on air bags in the rear only, so when up it has plenty of clearance. this car wasnt built to race, it was for looks.

This car is RAD. It is very well thought out and built. I've seen it up close, and also have helped skoty when he was under the gun to get it ready. The frame is plenty strong, and the cage is an integral part of it.

It's easy to judge something from a keyboard.

    Good Job Skoty!

Car looks very well built and carefully thought out. Alot of nice detail and fabrication. Keep up the good work. I guess everyone is en***led to an opinion but I have to agree with Chuckle's last statement.

    Not everyone's style for sure...

Still, looks to be some really nice work on that car. Pride.

  17. I'll go with the "not my style..but nice work" crowd. I definitely do not like z'd front ends, but you and your customer had a vision and it seems like you nailed it.

What did you put on the frame and body to prevent rust?

Tough? Every car starts somewhere. Some from a lot less and some from a lot more...

    from nowhere...

I have no real affection for ultra-low rods, and thats half of the reason for the flak your getting, anyway, in truth...
It looks very nicely done, clean, and with far better metal working than I'm capable of.
The cage makes the frame a three dimensional structure, my old A came to me with a 2x3 Box frame, a hokey one, at that! We did a lot of grinding and re-welding, some finishing, and altering...and, a cage. It drove my *** all around N.J., P.A., and N.Y, and if you know what kind of roads we have here...it also made innumerable p***es at the drag strip, no prob's, ever...
With the addition of the cage, the car was quite stiff...grinding the welds....? Well, so it won't p*** NHRA tech for 9's...is it going Super-Pro racing? I'm certain its not heavy, and it definately isn't getting traction with those slicks, so...
They DO look like they were nice enough to leave, however.
Funny, If you would have built it on an original A frame, no one would have had **** to say...even though it would have been ten times weaker, in all likelyhood, then this frame, with the cage.
