Actually the caption in the picture said "An excellent view of El Migage Dry Lakes sent in by Norman Grose. In foreground pretty 17-year-old Anita Smith, regular dry lakes attender."

What the photo doesn't tell you is that Anita Smith is her stage name. Her first name is Anita, She and her sister Fonda were were a stage act known as the Dix sisters.

Interesting. I did a quick search but could not find anything about the Dix sisters.

I had an interesting conversation about 2 years ago with a couple at an informal barbeque held by some HAMB members. They had closed their hot rod shop in southern California 30 or more years ago and moved to Arkansas. They are now retired and their son runs the business.

The man's wife, a pretty lady even now, told the story that when she was single there was a very rich bachelor at some rodding event who tried to put the move on her. His name was Robert Petersen and he was in the publishing business. When I asked if she dated him she said definitely not, he was just too arrogant. When she had finished telling about it I told her I had just read his obituary the week prior.
