I joined several month’s ago, kept seeing references to “the HAMB” on the Studebaker Drivers Club forum, thought I better check it out…..you guys build some sweet rides, I can appreciate the hard work that everyone puts into them. I’ve been into cars since the age of 13; still have my first car “The Stude”(real original, huh). I was always into James Taylor’s songs, went to see “Two Lane Blacktop” when it came out, thought the tilt front end & the sound of that M22 was awesome, & I ended up creating an all steel tilt front end on my stude , along with a SBC, Muncie 4 spd, etc in ’72. My wife and I did a lot of cruising in the 70”s & 80’s, then kids came along and it got parked, the mice decided to build a condo in it & it’s been torn apart in my barn since “85. I’ve done a custom 66 Chevy van, 71 El Camino, 74 Olds 442 over the years but I love Studes the best. My latest is a 66 Commander that I located in New Jersey 3 yrs ago, its an Arizona car, did the interior & some drive train work last year, put my “drag mags” from my original car on & took my first drive in a Stude in 23 years last August. I’m sure many of you folks can appreciate that first trip in a car identical to your very first car! I hope to enjoy cruising in my new ride for a couple of years,…..and then get to work restoring “The Stude” .

Very Nice looking Commander! Studebakers seem to be pretty rare these days...guess after 40 some years it makes sense (even with active Studebaker parts warehouses)! My wife wanted her 64 Wagonaire left "stock" but it just had so many problems in the drive train, steering, suspension and brakes not to do the restomod!
