On my car I'd like Art Himsl paint with a rat fink by Johnny Ace and some Whodaky striping. Then I'd want Bill Drake to do a picture for my living room. I'd also need some posters and T shirts by brush, Kali and all the other HAMB artists. Soon as I win the lottery, you guys'll get the call so stand by! [IMG]

  2. Surprised no one mentioned Bruce Kaiser, so I will! You've all seen his work both is his paintings TyRods T-shirts and in his ad work for guys like Spadaro, ECI and Juliano.

Tough crowd, he's a magician if you ask me, and he drives a bad-ass car too. He's one of my heros...

Damn, things sure move down page fast here now!!!

    Lotsa great artists listed...
Gotta add Roger Jetter to the group!
Yes...40studedude is a gifted artist as well as a gifted storyteller!
He does very realistic looking automotive art for shirts, ads etc.
Not sure if he's put anything on the friday night art post...might be too busy with the friday nite read stuff! [IMG]

  8. I've been trying to avoid this post for the last few days.

There is so much talent on this board. I enjoy and are a fan of all our HAMB artists. I hope to someday collect art from each of you.

I got to say that when the post appeared, I thought it was about Automotive Illustrators. There are so many favorites and just about all of them are named.

I will name a few Automotive Illustrators that have had a profound effect on me and my automotive artistic tastes. And by profound effect, I mean I get a boner when ever I view their art. [IMG]

In 1970 I discovered Dave Deal.

In 1973 it was Robert Williams.

In 1978 it was Steve Stanford.

In 1980 it was Tom Pickrel

In 2003 it was Brush, Jeem, Johnny & Kali all thanks to the HAMB.

2004 it's this Chris Frogget and Jimmy Smith.

These guys really trip my senses when it comes to drawing cars and such.

I'll save my pinstriping greats for another post. Youse guys ROCK!

I know that he is not very well known right now but I think he has the potential to get a good reputation with his first project. It's the roadster pick-up coming from Pinkee's Rod Shop real soon. He did the design work as well as participate on the build. He is a very good friend of mine and a lurker to the board, his name is Christian Dotson. Here is the Pinkees RPU drawing again.

It's sort of late to to be joining in this thread, but I think some of you will find a favorite artist on Motorburg
It's an association of some of the top rod and custom artists in the business including:
    Jimmy Smith
    Thom Taylor
    C•Cruz
    Greg Tedder
    Charlie Smith
    Ralph Birch
    and Darrell Mayabb
The site features lots of rod and Custom content as well as stories by well known people in the industry. New artists will be joining the association periodically so check it out often.
Not to compete with the famous H.A.M.B., but Motorburg has a forum with specially defined categories that you might find of additional value and interest. Check out the "Big Block Party"when you get there.
Hope you enjoy the visit - Charlie Smith

I'd rather see an old one arise from the dead then a new one created. Means folks are usign the search feature instead of just posting random topics that might have just been addressed.

  23. Weird bit of nostalgia seeing some of the early posters and names in this old thread.

Glad Mr. Norwell is still around, amongst others.

Don't see much from Tuck, HankCash or Dan Picasso anymore, amongst others. Framedragger for that matter.

    Man.... Cotie's stuff is INSANE!!!
Glad I stumbled on this post.... old, sure, but new to me! hotrodladycrusr, well spoken!
Hell, a top ten list wouldn't cut it for me.... I'd need three times that many to scratch the surface.... Charlie Smith, Jim Smith, George Trosley, Steve Stanford, Keith Weesner, Jeff Norwell, Art Fitzpatrick, Dave Bell, Lance Sorchik, Keith Kaucher, Chris Frogget, Bob Freeman, Ed Newton, and just about anyone on the Friday Art Show....
And Uncle Chaz, it's been more than a pleasure getting to know you! You're the guy responsible for me choosing this CAReer path... and thanks for mentioning Motorburg.... VERY cool to see that! It's like a fix for me between Friday Art Shows!
BTW-- great to see so many names mentioned here.... what a variety of styles and influences! McKee, again, thanks for sharing Cotie's work.... outstanding!
