I'm thankful I put a roller cam 305 in my car. Has it been a week already?

I stand by what I said above. 1200 ppm - who decided that? A lot of the oil back in the 70's and 80's had no where that.

Good discussion with lots of valuable information. The Speed Shop I use installed a Voodoo Flat-Tappet Hydrolic Cam and Lifter Kit in my 66 Ford's 289 two years ago, properly using the pre-lube, etc. with new Moble One Oil I'd used for years. After only 10 minutes of run-in the lobes on the cam were ruined & the lifters looked like they'd been ground down on a lathe (some more than others)! We then bought a Retro-Roller Lifter set-up w/Roller Cam & used 10-30 Rotella Oil (harder to find than 15-40) to break in the cam & lifters without any more problems. About a year later, I decided to get a Dart Iron-Eagle (4-Bolt on 2, 3, & 4) 8.2 Deck Height Block and have it built for torque (as I don't operate my engines at extremely high rpms - mostly below 4,000). Of course the new engine was roller all the way with 10-30 Rotella with no problems. I'm going to switch over to Moble One 10-30 simply because it is the most readily available synthetic. I'd thought about getting Amsoil Synthetic because I was told it has Zinc in it but perhaps I don't really need the "high price spread". Your thoughts?
