As for the show, thanks for the pic's Axle. I don't know what all the fuss is about, looks like plenty of quality genuine pure traditional cars attended to me! As for the other stuff, don't look at it and certainly don't take and post photo's of it.
Well done Shifters, along with Speed Week, VLV is still at the top of my "Bucket List"!

It was awesome to see you Marcy!! Wish I had gotten to visit with more HAMB'rs but I was stuck in the Flat Black Industries booth all day since Nate had to work.

Axle, unbeleivable job this year......HUGE difference from last year....so many less issues that I had noticed. Shifters did a phenominal job with the car show.

We'll be back again next year for sure. All my guys from abroad had a blast too, so thank you to you and to Tom for such a great time

    There must have been a rodeo in town as well, because there were a ton of girls dressed like rodeo clowns :}

Thanx again for the great pix. This is a great show and I will be back, hopefully with my rod instead of my '58.

    Hey Axle,

I had the best time ever at my first VLV. I'll be back next year for sure. And THANKS for putting up a picture of my Triumph. I did everything on that bike. Ride it till it breaks and fix it till it works. First time I ever saw it on the web......NICE..... Next year have a best bike trophy. alot of us guys love thier bikes more than their cars......It leaks in my garage also and I felt good to have it leave its mark in Vegas....

  14. Axle, thanks for posting your comments and pics. Now this gets me fired up about making it to this show again! I think the shit storm started because the first pics posted were all shit and everyone (myself included) ASSumed the show was all that crap. Thankfully Ryan shut that thread down and life is good again! I know it's hard work and you guys kick ass every year!

You are absolutely right about that Axle! People here on the board seems to hype up the Texas scene and especially Lonestar Roundup. Don't get me wrong now, because I love the Lonestar Roundup show, but after attending both the VLV show and the Lonestar show for a couple of years now I must admit that there is just as many ratty, weird and not so pretty cars at the lonestar show as there is at the VLV show, so I can't quite understand the big taboo about the vlv show here on the board....

Hey Axle i got a serious question for, how do you feel about work in progress cars, cause i don't wanna be mistaken for a rat since my car is as orginal as possible, it is flat black cause when i pulled it from a field it was half bare metal and surface rust and the other half was fadded blue, and flat black was cheap and plentiful, so would i have been turned away at the gate?

I don't see anything wrong with that car at all.

Hi, Although i am personally tired of flat black (there are other colors to choose from) there is absolutely nothing wrong with your car :)

This is a beautiful car but how the hell does the driver see to drive down the road ?

Hey, we were parked behind you ('40 Ford pickup). We loved your Triumph! Maybe we'll bring our '54 6T dirt tracker next year, too. I agree - more bikes would be a good thing!

Maybe we can set up a corral with all vintage bikes. I know they turn away a lot of new choppers and try to discourage the bike gangs from coming, but a few of the shifters have some killer bikes too. I had fun going in the hotrod, but I was worried the whole weekend..and I had to stop drinking and remember go down and cover the carbs a few times. I thiink next year I will load my bike in the truck and just have it to putt around town.

see im tired of it to thats why im trying to figure out how i wanna paint it, i don't know if i wanna do a 50's custom or 60's, im thinking 60's cause i like scallops and flake tops but im still not 100% sure which direction yet.

Mind if i make a suggestion ? How about a tinted primer for now? Maybe blue or a sea foam green? That would look nice on your car.

well thats the thing, i work at a classic resto shop and we got petty much an color i would wanna do, im just trying to decide on which diection, but one thing im not clear on is what the real difference between a 50's and 60's custom, i know if you got scallops, metal flake paint and or cloth thats consiterted 60's but whats a 50's single color paint with a fade and whitewalls?

well pat of me wants a clear coat that i can take care of, i was a pro detailer for a few years and i know what i can do with a good clear, and the diff color flats are cool its just getting to be a little to much of a fad for me, im thinking eather a burnt oange with a white or black top, or a deep dark red, i guess you could call it a black cherry, i got sooo many options im almost stuck.

Axle, thanks for ALL of yours and your clubs efforts. Only a few of the Lifters c.c. were able to make it this year. Unfortunately, I wasn't one of them. I have loved the past VLV's and look to return once we get over this recession bs.

I was the Lifters c.c. member who'd made the lamp trophy for the GNRS.
