hey guys, so I just bought a 1930 ford 5 window, complete rust free project. with a stock 32 from end. I've only dealt with cars 48 and up. so I need some advise on suspention, frame, motor, trans, rearend, etc stuff.
my goal is a full fender hot rod. lowered not slammed with a 350/350 or 700r4 combo. so where do I start. do I need to box the frame, split wishbone, pull **** apart or what?? if you were in my shoes, what would you do?
body, upholdstry/paint/cosmetic is all on the bottem of the list I know, I wanna drive the thing first, so I need all the underside legit.
    help?!?!

    :D

Yes, box the frame and an auto, c'mon now! There's an amazing 30/31 on the HAMB that is black, full fendered, has 40 wheels and is lowered... no chop. The car is ****** killer.

I'll see if I can find it...

Are you sure you have a 32 front end? If so what other mods are done to it?? HAMBER Chris has one of the coolest full fendered As around. You may want to ask him.

    Awesome! Great start man!

If you're going to go automatic go 700r4 and check with Jack (your fellow Creep) on info related to them. I think he's pretty knowledgable on them. He has one on the floor of his garage you can look at as well.

  10. That is a very nice car to start with.

  12. Me likey! Avoid the temptation to tear into it. Spend a while looking at it and thinking. Also search here for things like AV8, Model A, Model A coupe, posts by Chris, etc etc and spend a couple of weeks just reading all the relevant posts.
    Great score!

It is hard to see in the picture, but it sure does look like a '32 heavy axle.

Imagine you're standing up on top of a very high fence. On one side is what we'll call "hotrod world"....... on the other is "streetrod world". you are about to take a plunge on one side or the other. Your car (a very nice one let me say) could be either. In hotrod world, you've definitely found the right place to hang out. We appreciate the right combination of just the right parts...... stock A frame (boxed.... maybe), '32 heavy axle..... OOOoooo yeah, juice brakes, cool engine ......Ohhhh yeah. Over in street rod world, you might as well, put an order in today for a TCI stage VI ch***is (whatever that is) and bolt in your 350 /350 or 700R4 or whatever....... yawnnnnnn.........

    But it's your choice.

if anything sell the ch***is as a roller and just buy another frame for 150 to 200 bucks. its way easier to get your money back that way.

I would suggest that you do not split the wishbone. If you plan on building a "traditional" A-V8 (flathead V-8 in a model A ch***is) that wishbone is perfect! An orig. un-split 32 front wishbone is a pretty pricey item right now. Do yourself a favor and check out the book by Bishop and Tardell at your local book store and keep in mind that you will need a K member (center cross member) and some 32 pedals (both items available reproduction if you can not find originals) Nice car, have fun & good luck with it! Kenny.

First three things you need to do:

    1. ***LE THE CAR, DAMMIT.

    2. Join the Alliance.

    3. Contact Vaphead, and look at his website. Buy stuff from him.

After you've done these three things, the rest will all fall into place.

    BURNED!

The more it looks like Chris' coupe or 5Wbomber's new ride, the better off you'll be. Avoid maltese crosses and billet and you should do ok.
