When you drive the piss out of it almost everyday you learn where the sweet spots are. I know one of these days its gonna blow sky high, but until then its foot the to floor and side steping the clutch!!
I'm still collecting parts for juice brakes, almost have everything I need. I have a 303 Olds backed by a 39 ford tranny i'm gonna drop in when the banger decides to blow, When i swap that in then i'll convert to juice brakes. The mechanical brakes actually work really well, it locks all four tires up with out much trouble at all, at slower speeds that is, Ive had it up to 75mph and at that speeds it doesnt stop the greatest, but it still stops. As for the 58 Edsel, thats my driver on cold days, or days when the girlfriend wants to go for a nice cruise, pretty much stock, lowered 4 in the front 5 in the back, cruiser skirts, custom hubcaps and a grille I made using chrome bullets.
Sounds like a good plan, your Edsel is setup just like mine. It's my family cruiser, but I'm building my Hot Rod just for me, a '27 Ford RPU. Good looking stuff you got there.
Its not 100% stock, I have a model B carb on it, modified the distributor, straight piped, and taller tires on the back. I dont know how accurate the 75 mph is, the speedo isnt hooked up so I had a car following me. It rips down the freeways with no problems at all keeping up and passing traffic. And of course the wieght reduction of no fenders and the roof being 6" lower haha
That's awesome, you were at the red deer swap meet at the beginning of may right. do you know who to contact for getting a table. i got the run around this year, i wanted to sell pinstriped model cars, paintings, and now my own line of t shirts, they didnt think it was car friendly.
