I've been lurking and reading this forum for a few years now, trying to soak up as much valuable hot rod info as I can. I have always been into hot rods but I'm a fairly young guy so I'm only now starting my first build project. It's a '32 Ford pickup, and I have had the major pieces for almost 3 years now. I like to take my time planning before jumping into something! I am a mechanical engineer for a very well-known and established turbocharger manufacturer, based in Torrance CA. I am comfortable with engines and turbos, but I'm just diving into suspension theory and design. My rod project will be build with very specific handling and ride quality goals. Needless to say it will probably be turbocharged too...hot rodding is about innovation, and going fast, right? I am doing my best to design a pickup that will handle great but look as traditional as possible. Not easy! We'll see if I can deliver...
Welcome, fellow engineer! There is a few people from your area that come to breakfast down here. You should join us some saturday at Papa-Z's, here in HB. Here's the thread with directions and time. It's a good time! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=170087
Thanks for the words of welcome and the invite. I have heard of the anti-Donut breakfast, been to the Donut shop a few times but was disappointed in the types of cars that turned out. Maybe I will make it down sometime soon.
