Guys, can someone please tell me the difference in lenghts from the long and short GM Small Block water pumps? I'm having an issue trying to get a motor to fit in my rod and I cant tell if I have a short or long water pump.

I don't have a speedway catalog in front of me, but if you can shove your hand down between the pump and front cover, its the LONG pump. The short pump nearly touches the cover. Overall the long pump is about 1 1/4" 'longer'..........

  3. You can also measure the distance from the surface that mounts to the block to the hub where the pulley mounts. Short=5 5/8" Long=6 15/16"

Thanks for the help guys. I have a long one on it seems. Shorter one would work for sure but then I have to fighure out pulleys.

I took the clutch fan ***y off and found an old flex fan in the barn and mounted that. Looks like I may have a ½" to spare this way. Still going to be close but I guess I will wait and see when I get it in.

    Thanks again guys....:)
