Who smells like crap after driving there hot rod?

I gotta tell you.. I drive my car almost everyday when its good weather. I F*&%in smell so bad like gas when I get out of the thing its terrible. It would be nice to be able to throw my fiance in the car, drive to dinner and not smell like a gas can when I get out. Does everybody else smell like gas when there done driving around, or is it just me?

 

sounds to me like your running rich..or you got a gas leak some where....are you using the original tank

You have to seal that firewall good to keep all those engine smells out. I had the same thing before I checked for leakage

 

open lakes = exhaust fumes wife won't ride ....

 

i dont know..I think its just the way the louvers in the hood throw the fumes back at me..The engine was just built 2 years ago..no leaks, no blow by..just shoves all kinds of exhaust into my face hahaha

 

Well do you smell like gasoline or exhaust ? If it's exhaust, do yourself, and anyone who rides with you, a big favor and run the pipes past the p***enger compartment. CO is a killer and stays with you in your blood and is a ***** to get well again.

 

It's just part of driving a cool hot rod.

I get a lot of exhaust that gets ****ed thru the rumble floor. I have to pack my travel bag in trash bags to keep them from taking on the same smell. It also keeps things nice and dry on a rainy day.

Got a PCV valve? If not any blow by is coming out the breathers on the valve covers or the oil filler tube instead of being burnt up by the engine. Like BTB - Derby said if your firewall isn't sealed (and your floorboards aren't sealed, or if you have a tilt out windshield, or if you have a cowl vent or if you run without a hood or hood sides) then, yep, the smell is "just part of the deal"

Running full length exhaust? If not the smell is "just part of the deal"

How do I know... I don't have PCV valves or full length exhaust or a hood or hood sides. So for me the smell is "just part of the deal, too".

It's something you just have to learn to appreciate.

The worn out flathead in my Shoebox had so much blow-by that you could smell me before you saw me

 

Whoever advises you that smelling bad is part of hotrodding probably has that problem all the time and just blames it on his ride.

a) Make sure your cab and floor are tight. Like a previous commentor said, CO is not just an inconvenience.
b) Run your exhaust past your cab.
c) Wipe down the inside with a good household cleaner. Make sure the seats don't smell bad.
d) Inspect your fuel lines.
e) Take a shower.

Cars don't stink. ****ty builders do though. Be careful and good luck.

Gas isn't the worst smell.....
I've experienced old steering wheels that reek like ****.

 

Every hot rod I've ever had did that.

I've had a few customs with full exhaust and filled firewalls... No exhaust smell.

Open headers. Exhaust.

Part of the deal.

 

My wife tells me it reminds her of her fathers and grandfathers racing days when I smell like grease, oil, and gas. It turns her on.

 

I catch **** after I drive mine too unless I close the windows and beat the **** out of it at least once through the gears. After it's cleaned out I can open them up again and it's fine til it loads up again

 

My wife loves the smell too. What's also cool is when she drves her car and has that smell too!

 

Well since I have no gl*** in my car besides the windshield, and no roof insert, im not sure ill have much luck getting rid of the smells hahha..BTW the exhaust does run right down the side of the car and ends past both doors..probably gets some fumes tossed back up from the wheels spinning.

i had an increasingly bas smell of gas coming into the cab of my truck, i never had the truck running when i checked for leaks, but one day i checked while it was running, and the rubber fuel line ended up having a hole in it, and was showering the engine with gas pretty much. check for leaks while its running!

yea I have the same problem people ask me if I am crying but it is just the raw fuel coming out of the pipes

 

yea,,, my buddy smells like "****" when he drives any car ,but he ****s his pants regularly
