Hi to all. Just a new member and straight into the questions...lol

I have a 1939 Dodge four door fast back. The intention is to keep the old girl stock with the acception of a repower, suspention kit(already independent) ,rear end upgrade and front disc kit.All this in mind I would value some advise as a first time rodder. The car is complete and in good condition apart from the boot floor area, which is going to be a mare to reproduce without paying moonbeams for one from the plymouth doc in States.

Can anyone suggest a supplier of a front suspention kit, drum to disc front brake kit and a rear end that slots in without major mods if running a small 318.
I have also carefully removed one of the weather rails from roof as it had all but rusted away any insite in refabing a new one would be great.Lots of lead filling in these cars.....

Thanks for all advice or comments.

  2. Ford man that I am, I like the '30s/'40s MoPars a lot. Looks like a pretty solid old car to start with, and you're well on your way to making it really nice.

Thanks 38fordpickup. I would hope to have her on the road by Christmas, with or without paint to get involved in some rod runs.

If your rear suspension is the same as my 40 dodge tudor sedan, an 8 3/4 rear from a 1970 plymouth e-body(Barracuda,challenger) will fit. You will have to fab up new lower shock mounts because the spring perch that is welded to the rear housing is a little wider than the original dodge one. You can also use the rear from a late 70's labaron or similar sized car but you will have to cut off the rears perches and move them out some. You will also have to make the lower shock mounts as well and use wheels with less offset. Good luck with your car it looks really solid and would make a nice mild custom. later shawn
