I agree! He ran good at Langhorne and I always considered any driver who was competitive at Langhorne or Trenton to be a star! Remember when the roof was peeling off of his coupe at Langhorne? He still finished 10th.
Great driver, but I always had problems pronouncing Iulg!

    Gary Iulg - 1975,1976
"Another great Sanborn driver, Gary Iulg was the man to beat in dirt racing during the mid 1970's. Gary was also a very accomplished driver on asphalt as well. Whether it be in asphalt modifieds, super modifieds, sprint cars, or dirt modifieds, Gary Iulg could always be expected to contend for the win."

  2. Yes, the photo description read "Flach" I just didn't write down the name, but good job pointing it out!

Great shot of DONNIE WETMORE coupe # 73. My cousin almost bought it back in the day. We saw it laying in a yard off the hi-way up in the Catskills by my Uncles farm.

FYI - Frank Lopke is the person responsible for Shangri-La Speedway being turned into a gravel pit. To say I'm not a fan is a vast, vast understatement.

Other pictures of Buddy Bardwell are post #2535,page 127 and #2666,page 134.
I have seen only one other picture of the Safford Park/ Cheshire Fairgrounds in Swanzey NH on this thread. It is post #2563,page 129. A little research tells me that it is from 1954, Art Rousseau in the 621 and George Schnyer in the 33 that Art Cody drove later.

EEZI: I build vitage model cars. I've been involved with the Swanzey, N.H. Old Home days for a few years now. There's an "OLD-TIMER'S" reunion there each year. Buddy still has that old #13 car!! Are you familiar with the racing around that area? Thanks!! Neal PS: that pic of the #2 coupe is Ed Foley at Fairmont in about '63 or 64...

Kool Shot. I think this photo was taken at Langhorne in the infield. That looks like the grandstands for the1/8 mile dragstrip in the background.

PULLED FROM THE AUG. 9, 1969 LANCASTER (NY) SPEEDWAY PROGRAM (PHOTOS BY GORDON REINIG):

Bill Rafter (22) chases Sonny Barron.

Dave Nichols (34) winds up on top of Dick Emerson's coupe as Bill Brainard (98) tries to avoid the melee. Nichols actually wound up upside-down.

I Built it for fun, i race 1/4 scale car, no one ever made a old modified. I may build a coupe.. This car is 40 inchs long powered by a 23cc weed wacker engine. The chevy engine you see is the muffler. so the headers work.Im finishing the car up to show The Murphy family Mikes memorys are still alive. Chris

This one is for Gordie's daughter, Beth. Merv Treichler was Beth's favorite driver.
