The Speed Merchants Nostalgia Top Fuel front engined dragster has achieved their team goal, testing at the Texas Motorplex, this weekend. Hamber David Pace (Crowerglide) drove the blown, Nitromethane-injected early Hemi down the stip in 5.998 seconds, at 232 miles per hour. Everybody was stoked man. It's hard to describe the feeling as a team member. We all knew we had a hand in making everything work out.

Congrats to team owner and Hamber Brad Green (Recycler) has wanted this for several years. Congrats to Dave Pace who said, "That's the fastest I've been in thirty years". Our newest team member said, "Dayam, that guy has balls of steel!" When I downloaded the data, I said "Christ almighty, almost 10,000 RPM!"

It was a good day. We're ready for Indy in June.

A lot of credit goes to our Crew Chief John Dearmore. The tune-up is really coming together. Here's a photo of the trickest early Hemi rocker system on the planet, designed and manufactured by DRE (Dearmore Race Engineering) Racing.

BG may not happen for us this year. We'll have to get Brad on here to confirm the schedule, but this is what I'm talking about:

    21st Hot Rod Nationals
    www.hotrodnats.com
O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis — Indianapolis, IN
    June 12, 13 & 14, 2009

Brad has started a new job this year, so it's hard to get the time off when it's really needed for more important things like racing.

  10. I guess it was bound to happen. Two nostalgia shows the same weekend within a few hundred miles of each other.

PPrather is correct. This Old Fart needs a bigger calender.

  13. Wow that is fantastic! Whose heads are you running . . . I don't recognize them? I'm running Donovan 417 heads on mine - but it is just a street engine. Maybe I'll come see you guys run at BG.

He got a new set of billet CNC heads this year. I forgot the brand name. They are BMT or something like that. What you see in the photo, is the DRE rocker system, that can be bolted onto any early Hemi head. It acts as a girdle to hold the head on, and position the individual shaft rocker arms. All of the offsets and angles have been corrected. Nothing else like it.

At least you got my good side, Lippy.

Thanks for the kind words, everybody. We're hoping to continue to improve at Goodguys/Indy.
