So I scored my best swap meet find ever at the Round Up. Five '34 Plymouth artillery wheels with 4 caps for two bills. I'm stoked.

Then I get home and settle down. In my rush to load them, either the seller or myself picked up one wrong wheel. He had several sets in close quarters, so I'm not surprised.

Anyway, I need to ID the oddball so I can make it available to whoever might need it and get on with cleaning up the others. All are 16" x 4" with a 5 x 4.5" bolt circle.

    Here's the mystery wheel...

Here is what the other 4 look like....

And these are the caps. Does anyone know of a blank or Chevy cap that will fit these wheels? The caps are about 7 1/2 inches in diameter and snap into a hole that measures 6 9/16 inches.

If I can get either one, I'll put these up for grabs, too. If not, I will hammer and fill them to make smoothies.

So who can tell me what my mystery wheel is?

    Jimmy?

It's a Mopar wheel, but it's made for wheel bolts instead of nuts, therefore the locating pin holes.

That first wheel is a '36 Plymouth wheel, my buddy has a bone stock '36 Plymouth with those on it, and I have a set for my '40 Chrysler that I plan to use to give it a bit more style.

I've never seen that second wheel before, and I doubt it's from a '34 Plymouth. I think Plymouth was still using 17" wheels at that point, the '35 Plymouth artilleries I've seen look like a 17" version of your first picture with a couple more oval holes. Was anyone using 16" wheels in '34?

The wheel in the second pic looks like an oddball aftermarket unit to me, like a Firestone or Budd wheel.

My set of '35 plymouth wheels look like the first pic. Which ones do the hub caps fit?

I've tried the Chevy Rally caps and they are close, but the fit on the clips on my wheels was not very good. They are also pretty shallow and the hub might not allow them to seat fully. Baby moons might be better than stock rally caps though. So I ordered four adapter rings from Jimmy so that Ford V-8 wire wheel caps will fit into them. I'm going to tack weld them to the Plymouth wheels from the inside and then powder coat them.

They're both plymouth wheels, Not really sure of what years for either though. I think the clip type are later.

Several sources have ID'd the first wheel as 36 plymouth, so that is looking correct.
I have nailed down the second as 34 plymouth and the caps fit those.

Plymouth did offer a 17" wheel, but the 16" was also used on 34 & 35 models.

Here is a breakdown from a web source. Seems too specific to be unreliable.

    Thanks folks!

Yes they are plymouth/ dodge wheels! The Hub cap is for a different style wheel then what you bought.

The caps do fit the second wheel. That's the 34/35 plymouth. The first wheel was in the same lot purchased this weekend. It uses a different cap, clearly. I did get a PM from someone in need, so it will be rehomed this week.
That leaves me wondering if there is a chevy cap to fit the second wheel or if i just need to smooth these plymouth caps and rechrome them. I also want to widen two of the wheels (2nd) to 6 or 7 inches. I'll have to find donor hoops for that.
