    Hello,

I've seen the T5 S10 and '39 transimission shifter locations in Model A's, but I dont see many people running a 4 speeds.

I just starting researching T10's and Muncie 4 speeds.

Does anyone out there have an interior picture of a 30-31 Model A with a 4 speed? I'd like to see the shifter location.

They look like they might shift too far back by the hip.

    Thanks!

check T&F shifters. Pricey but puts the shifter where you want it.
    Hope this helps.

i have a top loader in my 29 tudor. real heavy channel in front. i needed a shifter location as far to the rear as possible. seat is moved back quite far from stock location, and i like everything to fall right to hand. none of this leaning forward to grab a gear silliness. google "david kee toploaders" he was able to come up with a nice complete kit with the reach and stick i wanted, and his prices and service were super. p.s. ot how do you guys like my pimpin' grill?

That shifter location is back a bit. I'm wondering if thats the reason more people go with the T5 S10 combo.

    I just dont think I need a 5 speed.

I dont plan on going that fast on the freeway.

My old brakes arent going to stop all that great anyway.

    Rich,

    That location looks pretty good.

Do you know if anyone makes a '39 style S bend shifter for that?

I see that someone makes them for the T5's.

You should PM Buzzard. He has a Muncie, too. I think D.W. does also.

I'll try to get you a pic of mine. My engine setback is relatively deep into the firewall so the shifter is way back. I have a Muncie with a Hurst shifter. I just heated and bent up the stick to get it where I wanted it. With a straight stick, 1st is all the way under my leg and 2nd and 4th hit the seat.

Even then, I pull the p***enger seat out to race because my elbow hits it when I pull 4th gear real hard.

DW's setup is not the same. He has a 5 speed in his.

I had my motor sit back quite a bit and it fell right in the body cross brace. My car was a high boy on an a frame. I needed a tall shifter handle to be able to reach it without reaching down.

I'm building an A roadster with a super t10 right now. As you can see no shifter yet, but you can see were it'll be. i'll post a better shot later.

    Thanks for all the replies.

It looks like it will work.

Why do so many people run the T5's rather than a 4 speed?

My '67 Camaro did just fine with a M21 and 3:55 gears.

I dont see anyone using a longer shifter.

Since I'm a visual learner, any more pics would be great.

    Thanks,

I was thinking I had a better pic than this one. Body is channled 4". The T-5's offer better shifter placement as far as more toward the center of the car. This is a T-10 and the shifter crowded my leg, making it a little difficult to get into reverse. I was more worried about making the pedal placement comfortable, and worked around the shifter.
