Building the Total Performance King-T... or maybe not... now that Speedy Bill has bought Total Performance, will we be relieved of this never-ending saga in Street Rodder?
Lighten up dude. That never ending saga might just get more people into hot rodding. Rizzo's wife is doing a fine job of building a low cost rod that will be better than half the POS rods that show up at so called "traditional" events. And he has built more rods than most people ever dream about. Careful, I'll bet she could chase your *** down and break your arm without breathin' hard! - Haha ;-)
I actually look forward to the articles. It doesn't hurt that I have met Rizzo, but I still find the article informative.
What the hell is wrong with following a build in Street Rodder? It's a car magazine for Christs sake, and a pretty good one I might add!!!!
Kinda of made and *** of yourself with that statement. My wife happens to like the Tech that Jim and Candy are doing on her King T. She actually asks me if the new SR has come yet so she can read that particular article. And my wife doesn't even check her own oil, but she respects what Candy is doing. Power to the women out there who wrench, and none to the **** offs who put 'em down.
Seems like a perfectly reasonable entry-level rod build. A car that makes a decent approach to hot rod looks for a person with undeveloped skills and limited shop space, tools, and money. Not everyone is fully prepared to drag a deuce out of the swamp and beat it into shape, and building this basic fibergl*** hotrod project is a LOT more educational than writing a check to a pro who ***embles streetrods. I can remember somewhat similar articles from the early sixties when "Fad T's" first made a kit approach to early rodding possible.
I think the tech articles have been great. I built mine(King T) a little ahead of theres so I look foward to seeing how they did there's. Mine's a little different in that it wont be used for the street.
Ever think there are others out there who like what they see in that article? Don't be so narrow-minded! Why jump on Rizzo's back for him doin' his job? If you don't like the car/story then turn the page. Or better yet get off the computer and go finish your car.
I actually started buying Street Rodder for that series. How many times do I see stuff that is "traditional" where everything is m***aged and made of unobtanium? I could actually aford that and don't need a crew of builders to do it.
Rizzo is a cl*** act, i have not had the pleasure to meet his wife, but i'm sure she is too. Hot rodding needs way more people like him. Great guy, great builder. Who cares whats people are building as long as its safe, and quality. Now put your other foot in your mouth, and try walking on your *** cheeks.
I remember Rizzo, she was the trampy looking thing in Grease, the one that got knocked up, She's building a car? Cool I wonder if John Revolting will build one also.
I agree, great build up/how too articles which actually give folks with little or no skills confidence to build something. My hats off to Jim and Candy and the SRM crew. There should be more articles like this in publications.
What would you know about the media--you are just a hot rod shop owner. Oh! that's right--you used to be one of those guys too. Roo
Hey Mac (make that MISTER Mac): What's it like to hit a home run? That blue and white roadster is fantastic! I've been wanting to build the same thing for nostalgia drags, and you've already done it. Got my fire lit again. Have fun with that.
I read Street Rodder every month; personally I have enjoyed reading Candy's build project series. Al (Professor Hammer still rules though) in CT
I've been following the King T build with interest. Hats off to Jim and Candy for letting us follow along. Good people!
easy fella...Street Rodder doing a good job at sharing for those that have never undertaken the task of building.
I am not a big fan of it, I read the first one and have not read the other ones since. That being said, I do like the idea of a woman getting her hands dirty and inspiring others. I agree, its a nicer car than most of the dumb *** rat rods out there. To each his own, I am not going to stop buying the magazine, but just like with all the other magazines I get, I don't feel compelled to read every word of every article in them. -drZ
What a jack*** thing to say. I think it's quite interesting even though I have been building much more sophisticated cars for years. I still enjoy it. I also know Jim and have met candy and they are great people, which I realize is irrelevant if the articles ****ed, but they don't. On top of that think of magazine production schedules, It's pretty much done by now anyway.
How many articles have been posted and about how far along is the car? I believe magazines have about a three month - and maybe longer - lead time so it looks like there will be another three issues with articles on the T within. That might "get er dun", but if not, I'll bet Speedy Bill will help them get to the finish.
Exactly. How else are some beginners or youngbloods suppose to learn that don't have a mentor. Granted, might not be for everyone, but it could help others.
I think it is a great write up! i just wished i could get my wife to do half of what Candy is doing. hell to her a car is just a way to get from point A to point B, don't matter what it looks like as long as it makes it. ya would think after 30yrs she would have have gotten at least a little interested.
I enjoy the articles and the pics, even if it is somewhat of an adverti*****t (but isn't every "tech" article in a car mag?? Rizzo seems like a good guy and it is cool that his wife is obviously interested, and they are enjoying life together. Isn't that what it is all about?
