For my first RoundUp it couldn't have been better, other than the weather on Friday. Here's a few pics with captions starting from the kickoff party at Billy's on Thursday and ending at the Flyrite open house on Sunday. I'm leaving out all the car pics since we've already got a good selection on the board from other members. This is Billy and a few of the guys Keith and Louie This is a shot throught the windshield of the '55 heading north on FM973 Friday morning The best part of the event was on Saturday. The Thunderbolts surrounded me at the swap meet and surprised me with a new Thunderbolts t-shirt making me their newest member. I said "...but you can't be a member without actually OWNING a car!?". My dad tapped me on the shoulder. When I turned around he handed me the title to his '55. I've been working on it for a couple of years but I always respected it as being my dad's car. His dad bought in new in our hometown. It has a some cool history. Here's a shot of me holding back some tears with my dad. Meet my friend Ass Hole (DW) and his better half (L.A.W.) I LOVE his car I was looking at the diver's helmets The open house at Flyrite turned out bigger than everybody thought. My dad's cameo is in the foreground. The band "Blower" was crazy. They played some of their all time greatest hits such as "Hot Wheels, Cold Beer, Big Titties" and "Get Up, Get High, Get Off". I had a blast!
What a great story. Congratulations on the '55... (lets see some pics!) Owning a car that has been handed down is extra special. Sam
Congrats man the amount of great stories from the roundup is unfreakinbelievable if you dont think this is the best show on the planet you should have your head examined
Thats Kool! I have my Grandfathers Pickup that he bought new at Hood Motors in Amite, La. I am in the process of making it "mine", its been stock for 45 years.
This is the best pic I have access to right now. I will post some more detailed pics when I can get to them. It's 100% original. No joke. You can see some writing on the envelope in the pic with my dad. My grandma wrote a touching note on it when she gave the car to my dad before she passed away. She tells him that everything he needs to transfer the car to his name is in the envelope, she knows the car is going to a good home and to make sure it goes to another good home. My dad scratched out "my dear son" and wrote "grandson". It tugged on the heart a bit. I'm proud to be a member of a club with such cool history, and to now own a car with the same.
