Have to replace the cork float on my gas gauge sender. I found a cylinder shaped br*** float from an early chevy that should work with some creative engineering. Rather than try to wire it on or solder to the exterior I was thinking of drilling a hole in the center of each end so I can slide it onto the wire on the sender and keep it centered and then solder it to the wire at each end sealing the hole then coat the joints with some type of fuel proof epoxy just to backup my soldering job. Sound feasible?
OK, didn't get any takers last July when I first posted this but I'm getting ready to make a bunch of fuel system upgrades so crunch time is near. I figure maybe there's some new blood that has had some experience in this area so here it is yet again for your "viewing pleasure".
that should work , but i would have a REAL hard time drilling two holes into something that did not leak yet
Ford dealers stock the br*** kegs that also fit GMs. $8 last time I bought one. These are the beerkeg floats that snap into the arm.
I have a couple late model Ford plastic floats with the arms if you would like to try one, let me know. Brad
