so in my search for fenders and doors for my 59 apache i found them but ended up buying the complete truck. so now i have two 59 apaches. the first one to be built(already in progress)will be nothing special just ifs 4link sbc, my daily driver. i have been kicking around ideas for the second truck and was wondering if anyone has any pictures of a dually hot rod? i did a google search but nothing much but stock came up

Yogis shop truck is something like a 48 or 50 GMC turned dually and they use that ***** too . I worked for a guy with a 55 chevy pu .He wanted to pro street it (which he did ) . I tried like hell to get him to dually it instead but he had no sense. Would have fit in the same space and driven and towed much better . I think it's a cool idea.

I think the dually conversions on old trucks look silly, never seen one that looks better, and if it doesn't look better not really worth doing.

The shop I worked for actually used the 57 as a truck . Towed cars with it .Seems logical to me .But you are right , it won't look "better"

Little known dually fact, there's 2 widths.

Most that you see with flatbeds are significantly narrower axle width than the ones you see with fender bulges. On some later model stuff you can do a dually within the confines of the stock outer fenders with widened inner fenders.

I kinda like em. Not all trucks have to pretend to be cars. Good luck

If you can get black old 2 ton steels under it along with the big hub front wheels, you might be able to pull it off without it looking stoopid! Still go with a look like it would have from the factory....IMO

Squirrel has built an extended cab 59 looks cool to me , only has single rear wheels, but dual wheels could look better there than on the swb regular cab in the egay pictures.

I think a longbed '58-59 Fleetside with Chevy '88-98 Dually fenders grafted onto it could look very sweet if you did the sheetmetal work to eliminate the bedspear on the side of the Fleetside bed.

  17. You are building one like this? Doesn't look too bad to me.

That is a SWEET tow rig. Change 3 or 4 details and it'd p*** for stock from that angle, which is totally the way to build something like that.

  19. Yeah it's not exactly HAMB friendly, but for towing it is built right. Nice leather seats and a dvd player in the overhead console for the kids.:D I had it listed here for sale a couple years ago.

Do you have any build photos of that truck? I'm wanting to do something similar to my 49 Chevy 3/4 ton. Thanks,
    Mike

I need a censor ****on on my keyboard. You're right.
How about strapping a stepside fender to the side of a fleetside bed, sans the Fleetside bed spear?

at first i was doin a single cab but after seeing that i dont think i can fight the feeling.
some build pics would be excellent
    or even more finished pics

  23. I don't have any build pics, it's one of my uncle's creations. He still has it.
Here's a few more, I skipped the interior pics.

  24. Just run a narrower rear end from a 60's-70's dually pickup and tuck the dually wheels inside the stock wheel tubs. Either that or slice & graft some stepside fenders to a fleetside bed.
