I dunno...what do you guys think? Before: Bias plies and cap with beauty rings. After: Radial White walls and red steelies. I also removed the front bumper for a slightly neater look. I much rather prefer a 40's era look to the 60's look it had.
[ QUOTE ] I dunno...what do you guys think? [/ QUOTE ] Remember, you asked for it. I liked it better with the bumper and first set of wheels. I can take the red wheels, but to me, that bumper really looked good on there and I think you are losing something by removing it. Then again, my taste tends to lean more toward the 60's. Plus I really, really, dig nerf bar bumpers. In my opinion, more early cars should have cool little bumpers like that. IMHO.... FWIW.... and remember you asked for honest OPINIONS.
Don't like the silly little red devil (sure not the '40's anyway). Liked it better with the bumper. Wheels don't look bad on it, but bias plies would look beter. And it'll never look '40's with that paint and white top. That car is better off being left alone!
Nerf bar and old wheel-tire combo was purrrrrrfect...but thats the way you bought it right?....I can understand you wanting to make it "yours"...only thing I would do is put a 283 in it with 2-4's and drive the **** out of it! Greg

I think you hit the nail on the head. I think I was so jonesing to personalize it that I lost sight of how cool it looks already. Bias plies had to go though. As cool as they look, the car was a real handful on rough roads. It gets fairly cold here at night and will continue to get colder. By the time the flat spots wear out of the tires, I am almost at work.
I think the wheels look alright, but I'm not crazy about the Coop devil. Not because I'm anti-Coop or anything, I just think if you're gonna put something there...get it painted! Stickers are for windows. Paint is for paint. Not sure how I feel about the nerf bar...generally I dig 'em...looked a little "busy" on your sedan though. my $.02.
hhmmm...can also understand if you wanna "modify" it into "yours"...nice rod, but still ... I prefer the before look !
what about a cream steelie, or black maybe. anything but red! and maybe a spider cap. even though u dont want that 60's look but i think with the paint u got theres no running from it. but i dig it with out the nerf bar.
Your car looks good either way. BUT, what matters most is what YOU like. Who cares what we think? Drive it how you want it and enjoy!
Burnup, I really like it the way it was. I to could live with out the decal on the cowl. Maybe a deuce grille shell with black insert. Although it does look good with the stock grille shell. It is one sweet hot rod just the way it is. Get somebody to put a big 'whodaky' on the back in a subtle color and that's about all it needs. Geoff aka Whodaky

I'm running them on the coupe and in the country roads I am all over the place but on the highways there perfect. That sedan is awesome. You don't alway find them this clean and sweet. I like it both ways but I really like the nerf bumper and the wheels it cam with. I think the red clashes a little. But either way you have one awesome sedan to be proud to own.
I have to weigh in on the original wheels. I understand the radials though, so combine them with the seafoam wheels and trim rings. I'm not sure about the bumper, but it doesn't detract from the look so if you're gonna drive the **** out of it keep it on, it'll come in handy. As for the motor, I'd lean towards a Nailhead and a 4-speed, but that's just me...
What's wrong with switching back and forth as the mood and cir***stance dictate? Use the bias plys when you cruise local and put on the radials for long distance runs (Iput on my Bias plys for a long road trip and was exausted by the time I got home. never realized the difference until then). This way the car is fresh all over again and when you get bored get out the jack and change 'em. Frank
The red does look good against the green, but red steels are a bit of a faux-pas at the moment. Keep both. Swap 'em around to suit YOUR moods, not anybody elses.
Remember.you asked ..... I love Red steelies........both of my old Fords have them.....BUT I think the car looked way better in the before photo. The red does not go with the body color as well as what was on it. The little devil looks " added on " to me.....which it was I understand 'making it yours' but it was so sweet before. Lots of people mess up cars by steady tinkering. The " I got to do something " syndrome......It was perfect.....How can that be improved on ??
I dont understand why anyone think red wheels are cool, but hey man to each his own. I would run chrome reverse with no caps, but its not my car its yours. Do your own thing. Trying out different ideas is part of the fun.
Both wheels are good, lose the silly Coop sticker. OH! I get it, you are trying to get it covered in OSR! Thats why you have the rockabilly starter kit cowl sticker Seriously, I agree with Barnett, find a cool element of YOUR OWN and have a good sign guy paint it on.
I like it after - I would like to see a set of capped shorty exhaust dumps under the front fenders and maybe some nerf bars...my 2 senz...Tom - restorit
Thanks guys. As far as the red steelies, there may be rods all over running red steelies in the US but where I live in Canada, a lot of the cool rods are still running 90's era polished billet wheels. Hell, there are guys still running chrome modular wheels. Believe me, where I live the local rod scene is way behind in the times. Red steelies are not common here. I would much rather prefer red gennies (I know it's overdone) but I was working on a budget and didn't really want to spend the cash on anything more than a set of junyard rims. thanks guys, I value your opinions, even if it's not what I wanna hear. Next I will install neon underglow....
Who gives a **** if red steelies are "common." They look good on your car. That said, I think you should put the caps on them, but not the beauty rings. Your car has too much of a finished look to go w/ out caps.
