A friend of mine just bought a 39 austin with a flathead 4 cyl. He is trying to get the little 4 to run, Where can you find a set of points for something like this, or any other parts as far as that goes?
Thanks, I tried them, they only go back to 53 now but they are sending me a free catologue. maybe we can use something out of it.
Here's a supplier in the U.K. with a listing for '39 Austin "big 7". I don't know if that is your motor or whether they would fit your motor if it's different, but it looks to be a good starting point in your search..... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ignition-Cont...emQQimsxZ20090420?IMSfp=TL0904201210003r28362 Also, here's an Austin 7 Owner's Club. Might be of some help..... http://www.austinsevenownersclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=645
His is a austin 8 but from what I have read in those links about the coils, points etc. I think a 350 chev with new wiring may be the best medicine for this little dude. It favors the old anglias and prefects for those who havent seen one Thanks!
If he wants to stay with British parts find either a MGB or MG Midget donor. Midget's are cheeeeeeeeeeeeap and the Midget's little four banger would match pretty close to the Austin. I would suggest a Austin box Sprite but there are not near as many as the Midgets.
