Hello everyone. As some of you may know I am just about to graduate from college as an Auto Body Tech Major. What this thread is about concerns my instructor. Many years ago he built this beautiful Mercury and unfortuantly had to sell it at one point in his life. Scence that day he has not only regreated it but always wondered where it could have gone and where it may be today?.... I figured with the amount of people on here invoved in this wonderful hobbie/lifestyle there may be a small chance one of you may have seen, or even know about this car. Its a 1950 Merc built here in Waterloo, Ia. If anyone has any info on the car it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. (sorry for the picture of a picture, all he has left of it)
good luck on finding the car, it looks *****in'. I have seen so many people find their long lost loves on this forum, the power of the HAMB is huge. Feel the force luke. btw, your spelling ****s for a college graduate. and oh yeah, welcome to the HAMB.
I swear that is the same custom Merc in a post a day or two ago about a bunch of cars in chicken houses in Iowa or KS.
He only hopes....... I will see if I can get some more info on it today that may help locate the ol' girl.
Some info on it... The car was sold in 1995 to a guy 100 Miles East of St.Louis that owned a dealership called "The Car Corral" It had a 289 in it when he sold it. After that it was not to be heard of again untill just a few years ago when it came up on eBay with a picture showing what a 1953 Desoto grille looked like. The eBay seller was selling a grille used the Merc as a demo picture. It had the addition of a 350sbc, dumby diving lights on the cowl, and lag pipes. He contacted the seller of it and from what he understands, it was owned by one of the sellers freinds that had shortly after that picture was taken, sold at an auction and made its way back to/around the St.Louis area with yet another new owner. St. Louis guys, keep your eyes open! Thanks again for any help and info. On a side note: I can't spell.
I have a good pic of that car from the ledsled spectaular in Davenport IA. circa 1989. goin to get it now.
hope this works. Woosh just read my post up above and suddenly got the (**** IM GETTIN OLD) feeling. Call it photographic memory loss, but I knew I had a picture of it in a book that i had in high school. I took loads of pics at that show, cause I was goin back home and buildin a Merc.
This is awsome. Im sure my instructor will be pleased to see another pic of his baby. I will be sure to show him tom. in cl***. Now if only we could find it today....
He was very glad to see some other people liked it enough to take some pics. He was also wondering if you would be willing to part with that picture?........He likes it.
