I was looking through a box of my father's old photographs tonight and came across a handful of 4x5 black & white Polaroids of ...

    ... this full-fendered Deuce Roadster:

    001.jpg

    002.jpg

... and this garage full of Restored 1932 Fords (including a B 400):

    003.jpg

    004.jpg

Although all the prints are the on the exact same type of Polaroid B&W stock, I'm pretty sure the pictures were taken (or copy prints were made) at different times ... because the "POLAROID Lot numbers" on the set of "Roadster" pics are different from those on the set of "Garage" pics.

The Deuce Roadster is obviously a California car (license plate) ... and I'd guess the pic was taken in the late '60s ... or in the '70s.

I can't make out the state on the plates of the restored cars ... but I'm sure they are not California plates.

Any HAMBers out there recognize these '32s ???

I'd wager those tags are Oklahoma and the cars are the famous William Seacreast Collection.
He had a display at the Early V8 Ford Club of America National Meet in Tulsa in 1973 or so. He had a cutaway Tudor sedan and a driveable ch***is(the only year a firewall held all the wiring and controls). He had at least one of every 1932 Ford P***enger, Commercial and Truck body styles.
Don't know where they all are now or if they stayed together as a collection for historical purposes or what.

Thanks @pasadenahotrod ... I bet my father (and/or Meadors) shot those pics while attending the '76 NSRA Nats in Tulsa ... and I ***ume you meant the William F. Secrest Collection???

Now let's see if someone can identify the California "BCA 073" Deuce Roadster and its owner.

yup, Seacrest's stuff...I was in this shop/garage and sat in almost all of those cars 30 years ago. The Tulsa Roadsters were having a club meeting there, and I tagged along and stayed out in the shop and took pics while they had their meeting. I've still got the pics somewhere.

Don't know about the roadster, but the line up shot with all the deuces is near identical to a feature in Street Rodder Mag back in the 80's. The feature was calling it deuce heaven and the "head angel" I think was named Virgil. But then again my memory isn't as good as it once was. He also had parts galore.

    @tinmann -

Thanks for jogging my memory ... for several weeks now, I've been searching (to no avail) through my collection of 80s Street Rodder magazines ... looking for the 'Deuce Heaven on Earth' article that my father and Gary Meadors did back in the late 70s.

This morning, in @KIRK!'s "FOUND These OLD B/W DEUCE PHOTOS In The Trash!!!!!" thread (click HERE), HAMBer @Wisenheimer posted that the 'Deuce Heaven' article actually appeared in the September 1977 issue of Rod ACTION magazine:

    Rod Action Sept 77 Cover.jpg

... when I get a chance, I'll scan that article and post it here.

So ... one mystery solved! :) ... Now I just need to solve the other mystery ... Doesn't anyone out there in HAMBland know anything about the full-fendered Deuce Roadster with the white top?

I'd think that turtle neck shirt and sweater would place the photo in the mid 60's.

I don't recall seeing any photos of the car in a magazine though but some get forgotten after 40 years.

That's what I was thinking too!

I have no idea whether the roadster was a SoCal or an NorCal car ... but I have faith in the HAMB ... so I'm sure I'll eventually get an answer.

Perhaps HAMBer & long time L.A. Roadsters club member @Deuce Daddy Don remembers this car from an old Roadster Roundup event ... I'll PM him.

Oh oh ... I just realized that we have both admitted on the H.A.M.B. that we actually own (& read) old Rod ACTION and Street Rodder magazines  ... let the name-calling begin  :D

Have one of your policemen friend run an old search in the Calif Motor vehilce records
for the license plate on that roadster.........BCA-073.........It can be done that way
if the law was looking for a killer.

No one in LAR club back then with that license catagory that I can remember of.
I think this is a Central- Nor Cal person, by the looks of his roadster. Also he might have been a participant at Andy's Crow Canyon run back then.----Another thought----Try Andy Southard, Andy took a bunch of pix, between pin striping, at that time too!!-----------Don

  21. The roadster looks like it could be Bill Marshall's car. He was a member of the Bay Area Roadsters. The car is in Washinton State now. Easy to confim the license plate with a picture of the car in Andy Southards book hot rods of the 60's I think.

    @Tri-Deuce-****y ... Close :) ... but no cigar :( ...

... here's page 85 of "HOT RODS & CUSTOMS of the 1960s" by Andy Southard Jr.:

Bill Marshall '32 by Andy Southard Jr.jpg

Thanks for the lead though ... I'll ask some of my friends in the Bay Area Roadsters (past & present) if they remember the roadster pictured in the OP.

Great Googley Moogely! It's my first look at this thread and I'm quivering after looking at that collection. Do we know what happened to all those cars? Love that full fendered roadster, wish I could help i.d. it.

EDIT: Saw on Kirk!'s post that they were all sold off.

Could that be the orignal Eddie Meyer '32 that was in the bay area and belonged to Eddie Boshow?

Thanks so much for all your efforts in posting all these great pictures. This is amazing that there were so many people back then restoreing the old Ford cars.

Well ... it's been a month since I started this thread ... and although it took only 11 minutes for the 'Deuce Heaven' pics to be IDed (thanks @pasadenahotrod) ... the full-fendered Deuce Roadster in the OP:

    001.jpg

    002.jpg

... has yet to be identified.

HAMBer @sr thinks he remembers the car pictured in a '70s STREET RODDER magazine ... and that the car/owner was out of San Jose, CA.

I've searched through all of my '72-'79 issues but couldn't find the roadster (though I am missing the first five 1972 issues, the January & April 1973 issues, and the June 1974 issue).

C'mon HAMB ... I'd really like to solve this "mystery".

  28. Hemi, use Bill's hot rod index from down under. You can search by car year thru street rodder, rod action, and lots of other mags. http://www.hotrodindex.150m.com/ Pat.
