Before you "flame" me, listen. A guy's bugging me to sell him these decals. Is he buggin me because they're valuable, or because he just thinks they're cool? Thanks http://img2.imageshack.us/img2/7457/dsc01759h.jpg
I sell the Speed Specialties for $5, Dragmasters for $6, Crankshaft Co. for $10, Genuine Olds for $8 a pair and Hilborn for $10. Hope this helps.
I have 2 of each. So, is that a total of $70, or am I really as dumb as I look? PS-PM me with others that you offer please
Can I hijack this thread for a minute, since there seems to be some knowledgeable people here? I have some old stickers (they're actually stickers, not water slide decals that would go on the inside of gl***, more like bumper stickers) that I'd like to use on my car but I fear that they have lost their adhesive backing. I had a very neat Nixon bumper sticker on my '57 for a while but it came loose since it was so old and the glue was poor. Is there a way to use an old sticker like this without fear of it falling off?
I have a little machine that I use for s****booking that will make anything that will fit thru it an adhesive backed sticker. I can bring it to a car event with me if we're going to be attending the same one anytime soon and we can make it a sticker again.
I'd be tempted to see if a small shop that makes vinyl signs and things could duplicate an old sticker like that. It probably violates all sorts of copyright laws, but in the case of the Nixon sticker who's left to be upset about it?
You may be able to use this thread to create the decal http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8313
That sounds kick ***. Think an old sticker will go through the machine OK if it's still mildly sticky on the back side? Sounds like this would work out well.
I have done this a few times and they come out pretty cool. The last one was an old Indy 500 Buick decal I got off ebay. I didn't want to destry them so I had them basically copied and shrunk the diameter down so I could put them on my centercaps. The other was actually a fender emblem I had copied and changed some of the colors. Make sure they use quality vinyl so it will last quite a while. I got two sheets made with 24 decals and it cost about $35. It was only $10 extra for each additional sheet.
Kinkos and the like are the ones to worry about as far as copyright though no one is supposed to. You should be fine as long as it doesn't say TM or have that little copyright logo and most all of the old stuff doesn't, especially bumper stickers. My decals I referenced above do say Buick and the guy looked them over well for anything but no marks and they were done as late as 1981
I would take them to a sign shop, (that makes vinyl lettering) have them scan them, and then reproduce them. Then sell the copys. I'd buy a set if you had some made.
Well, there goes my thread. Straight to ****. I'm un-subscribing to my own thread now, so go for it. Thanks
Tell him a hundred bucks for the stickers. Or think of a price you would let them go for .If its a good friend your screwed..............................................................
Yes, will go thru fine. If it's small enough to fit in an envelope, send it to me and I'll send it back with the sticky adhesive back to it. Denise Sheldon 29129 Oriole Livonia, MI 48154 You're such an old grouch
Hey Denise,... Can you re-sticky these ?,..... this was a bedroom door, out of my Parents old house ,.... not really sure how it got this way, But I decided when we put the place up for sale 8 years ago,... I should just put a new door on that room. Sorry for hi-jacking your thread Groucho,..., But it really was kind of lame anyway ,....... There are only two identical decals on here.
Sorry, but to me a sticker is not a decal. One is fat and has sharp edges, the old decals were flat and were smooth. They are two totally different things. I love old decals, and have no use for stickers. Stickers are what my kid puts on his tool box.
If I live to be 1022 years old, I will vote for his head in a jar in 3002. I saw a do***entary about it on the TV looky-box.
There are some great 60's-70's decals on that door! Would make a great display in a garage or workshop.
I had a friend some years back who owned a ceramic bong in the shape of (& "painted" as) Richard Nixon's head. Just about the only thing he was good for. My friend voted for him PLENTY of times!
How about a desktop with a gl*** cover...OR a really female-unfriendly dining room table or coffee table in front of the sofa/divan/davenport/couch?
