How about this......it's not every day you restore the lettering on a third place 1961 Indy 500 car. Currently in restoration and just a few more touches and done!

This was a very intense project because the lettering had to be exactly like it was in '61 but a hell of alot of fun!!!

  4. The front engine Indy car is awesome!

That has to be a daunting task to replicate lettering of a bygone era.

    Great job, Wetpaint!

  15. Couple of dumb questions...

...are you guys finding real bowling pins, turning your own, or is there somewhere to get blanks? Not too many old bowling alleys in my area.

When did painting toilet seats become the thing to do? Great work, but... toilet seat? Cheap and easy to find I guess? [IMG] [IMG]

I was wondering about the bowling pins myself as for the toilet seat I'm in process on one but I figured since my lines are so shitty anyway it just makes good sense [IMG]

The one bowling alley here will give the old pins away. They change them out fairly often and will give the old ones to you if you ask. Or dumpster dive for them....

[/ QUOTE ] Yes thats it when marbilizer first came to my area I had a guy that wanted his bike done in kandied marbilizer and I try everything first I was goin through walmart and seen toilet seats for 4 dollars easy to prep easy to paint and cheap so I did it then pinstriped it for fun. well right away someone wanted on for there house then his friend wanted one and so on.Ive sold about 50 or more since. The bowlin pins I was just lucky a friend of mine (also into kustom paintin)knew a gut that made the wood pins and then sent them out to be covered in plastic and finished. When the guy died about a year ago my friend bought cases of them we split the bill and the pins. now were almost out so were looking for more

To rant or not to rant? Well I brought up Caffiene's Friday Art post for the week after scanning a bunch of stuff to post. Then I read a few of the posts decrying the'early start'. I decided not to post any images and wrote out a piece saying so, then I had it up on my screen for about a hour hour thinking about whether I should post it. Well after much thought I decided to delete it and just send the images I had planned on sending.
Then this morning I get get back on and check out Caffiene's post again and then come onto Skippy's post. Even more comment on early posting. I don't believe the people who are posting these oppostions to early starts really understand how much the people who post their art in here look forward to the art post.
These art posts are very important. As I have stated before it is one big thank tank a place for people to show their work and see others work. A place for those who don't contribute art to see what others are doing.
The time of day the hour the what ever is relative. To much in this world is driven by time. I believe in doing stuff for enjoyment and that doesn't mean it has to be Friday or whenever to do that. You make time for the things you enjoy doing! More people should think out side the square.
I see this opposition to the early starts as having the effect of stifling creativity. For the beginners amongst us, who are often a bit wherey of posting. They may become intimidated by the opposing posts. One should remember that the creative mind can be very fragile. Fragile to the degree that the slightest thing can hinder the creative progress.
As I said earlier I nearly didn't post any images this week and if I hadn't, would have seriously considered not posting any images in the future. And really in the greater scheme of things that would not have really mattered. Because the art posts here would just go on. I do enjoy showing my work here but it wouldn't matter to me if any one never saw any of my work ever. I love my striping and what I produce and what other peole think of it matters not to me.
Yup it turned into a rant! But sometimes things need to be put done in words,as well as in art. Geoff aka Whodaky

PS I am not a rebel, not weird and not cracked, but an Aussie yes. I am me when it is all said and done!

Way to go Geoff!I couldn't agree more.Who cares what day it is?And for you to consider never posting again would do a great disservice to this board.I personally look forward to seeing your work(thanks for the GREAT panel BTW)especially your scale vehicles(they aren't models).
So until the powers that be decree that Friday Art Posts have to be actually posted on Friday(I think you stand a better chance of winning the lottery than hearing that)please continue as you were. And if you even THINK of quitting posting,I might have to fly down there and lay a little whoopass on ya! Nobody complains if someone adds to the Friday art show thread on Saturday,Sunday,Monday...
Maybe he's late for last weeks show.

If it bothers you that Fucking much,
the next time you see a post called "Art Show",do us a favor, don't look!

Art! Is One of the few thing's (topic's) that are positive and exspressive of inspiring creativty. Sour Grape's and 'intro police' can hit the brick's. Friday's U.S. and Down Under can not arrive soon enough.

  25. Here's some "Anytime Art"(it's gotta be,"sometime"somewhere)that I just did for a guy tonight to complemment the bike I did for him last week. The eagle head was on the tank(along with the rest of the eagle)but he just wanted the head on the helmets.
The next piece is something I found at a friend's yard sale today for $5.He found it in the apartment he rented after the people moved out. It's about 2 feet high and flame-cut out of 1/4" steel with brackets on the back that look as if it were mounted on a wall originally. We were speculating that it might have come from the old Tiger Stadium or possibly the Detroit Free Press newspaper building.Anyhow it's a "wall-hanger" now.
The next is a pic of the tailgate on my Syclone that I lettered about 6 years ago. It's in my garage now for new vacuum lines and a new fuel pressure regulator.
And the last is a pic of my garage with toys.
