Since I've had my Caddy (5 years) I have had to rebuild the right rear wheel cylinder twice, then replaced it with a new unit and I might have had to rebuilt it allready, can't remember. Just this one...why?

All four brakes bleed just fine, have replaced hoses, shoes, etc...over the years.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

Check the shoe pivot points / pins to ensure there is not a bind. Pins could be bent...

Ensure the plunger moves freely within the cylinder. Sometimes the rubber cups bind on the cylinder wall.

    Just some thoughts...

What is it you find wrong with it when you remove it? Is it rusted from water in the line or are the cups worn out or what? Like 32SEDAN, I think there's something else goin' on.

It is always leaking at the cups. I've cleaned out the line. I'll do a check of all the pivots, springs etc...but everything seemed fine. Thanks.

The original one was rusty/pitted pretty badly, and the replacement was made wrong.

    Or maybe it's cursed.

Have you checked the drum diameter? If it's past the Max O.D. the cups could be working towards the ends of the wheel cylinders causing leaks. You should be able to tell by how far out the star wheel adjuster has traveled.

Remove wheel cylinder, peel back one end , look for any rusty residue, completely remove rubber, rod, piston, spring & check cyl. walls for ANY pitting.
Then do same to other end.
    ANY PITTING FOUND--------REPLACE CYLINDER!!---------------Don
