I want to put some Louvers in my hood what is the best way and how menny, size, ?? doe's any one have any ID or pics of it done?
i don't think anyone ever thought of louvers on a merc hood before.......seriously...search merc club...lot's of photos
3 staggered rows like the pic above is the norm. The back edge of the louvers near the cowl can either be straight across or staggered also. Just make sure you tell the guy exactly what you want.
Sometimes it helps to visualize the louver layout by cutting out some long strips of 3" wide white (or other color if you like) poster paper and the lay them out on your hod. Make loops of masking tape sticky side out to hold them in place. I like the first couple of louvers in each row near the outside front to pick up a little of the curvature of the hood as it starts to drop off to vertical on the sides. Gives it an intersting look. I'll look in my pics later and see if I have a shot that shows it. Charlie
I made a photocopy of a panel with 5 of my louvers in it. Then made several copies and tape them together in various patterns/numbers and lay them out to see what looks best on the hood. . 2 jobs are shown in my albums. Might help. jw
