    Hey guys!

Since I am not able to work on my truck at the moment, I spend my time thinking about future steps that I have to do.

On of them is the question, which Radiator I should use.
I am running a 425 Olds out of a '65 Starfire in my '35 Ford Truck.
I got the '36 Truck Grill that is deep enough to store any Radiator.

So what do you guys think would be a good choice to use??

Maybe you can also provide a link, where to buy (speedway, ect.)

Also what kind of transmission cooling (TH400) would be needed??

    Thanks in advance

    Martin

Buy a Walker and forget about it.
Run an independent cooler for the trans available at any auto parts store.

Walker sounds good, but is the only requirement, that it fits my grill shell??

Or is there anything else that I should be aware of???
Like engine size, or how much cooling this particular engine needs???

Just don't want to order a +600$ Radiator and find out that it don't work...

    Any ideas???

Are you channeling the grill shell to match the body?

The only vendor I have run across for a 36 truck radiator is Griffin. Walker told me they don't make one for the pickup. I went to Griffin and paid a lot of money but it works great. 36fordguy

Try a 67-69 mustang rad. It fits in my chopped 36 grill. i am using a stock 3 row on my 354 hemi. you can get a 4 row and they will be way more cost effective than a griffin. just my 2 cents.

little different animal. The olds wouldn't like that.

    things to consider....

The 36 grille is freakin large. My reccomendation would be to buy a new affco or Northern from speedway or Your local dirt track parts supplier. You can buy them without a radiator cap "neck" welded in.

why in the world would You want to do that?

Do You or someone You know have the ability to tig aluminum?

(see where I am going with this?)

the neck is pretty inexpensive. the radiator is also cheap. (like less than 200 bucks cheap.) at that point, You only have 2 concerns.

how do I mount it to the shell, and where do I bolt the radiator support rods?

the mounting is easy. on the top and bottom of the radiator core, they have a 2 inch aluminum channel. (about 1/2 an inch deep. ) a peice of 1x2 thinwall box tube slides right into it. acouple of screws and it's now weldable, drillable, and holesawable. mounting problem solved.

the radiator support rods...what keeps us from making them attach to the grille shell instead of the radiator?

a little work and I think You could have a honey of a radiator and save Yourself about 400 bones. which puts You a mere 1600 bucks away from aluminum heads. all of which can be painted whichever color You want, excepting pink...or any of the pastels spectrum.

C.A.R. Custom Auto Radiator makes them for 35, 36 ford pickups they are not aluminum so you won't have to paint it black so the ugly aluminum won't show threw your grille, nice radiators.

    That's a nice little theory...
Do haves some pics to show me, I am a little narrow minded on this radiator thing ;)
Yeah, I have the possibility to tig weld aluminum, but just trying to make sure what you are talking about, before i buy all the stuff :D
