So, I've had my heart set on a Hobart 135, pretty much the beefiest 110V mig you can get, comes with a gas regulator... Identical to the Miller 135, but cheaper...

(Please DONT start on 110v Welders... my ears are closed, and I'm the one living with the purchase. I know somebody a lot of you know, has his own shop, does a lot of welding, even CHASSIS stuff. I know of one A in particular he did ALL the chassis work on, been on the road nearly two years without a hint of trouble. Has the Hobart, and told me he has to be careful not to blast a big hole thru thru 1/8" if its turned up to high)

And no, not my 1st welder...

Harbor freight advertises a factory reconditioned Hobart 135 for $379.99. NICE! but they are CONSTANTLY backordered... and I'd have to drive up to Camarillo. So I'm kinda giving up on that deal. I've already been waiting a month.

My local welding shop, very high quailty, vry good customer service, tho EXPENSIVE, will sell me a Miller 135 for $595. Uh huh. I can go to Harbor Freight in Pasadena any day of the week and gt the bran new Hobart or $469.

Sure, I'd rather have the Miller, cause I could dash over to this shop and get parts. but not at that price.

What have you guys seen for prices around town for either?

Best place to get an argon tank cheap in the SFV, SGV?

    Thanks,
    J

Do you have Tractor Supply stores in California? They sell Hobart cheaper than anyone else.

    Yeah,
    Tractor supply rocks!

I've got my eye on one of their HOBART welders. Its a 220 volt though. HELL, I'm tired of farting around with these little 110 welders.

The big HOBART at my local tractor supply is like $1069. With tax, that would work out to be just under $1200. Shit, thats a deal.

I have a lincoln weld pak 100. Its rated to weld 1/4" steel with the Flux core wire....and it DOES IT.

But it doesn't do it like a big welder does it.

Sorry, I'm preaching. [IMG] Back to the topic....MANG, go check out a tractor supply. They got the stuff.

Check out IOC (Indiana Oxygen Co.) on E-bay. I bought my Millermatic 175 from them. Free shipping, you can buy a bottle from them, they will deal over the phone, so you don't have to worry about E-bay, and their prices are the best I've seen.

Here's a Hobart Handler 140 for $445.87 shipped to your door.

    Super nice to deal with.

Von Ruler, the gasser god, a little tip about Tractor Supply.

When you buy the welder, take out one of their TSC credit cards. They give you 10% off the first purchase on it. Use it to buy the welder and then pay it off when the bill comes in. Presto..the cheapest place to get Hobart welders, even 10% cheaper.
