Hi all, I'm 50 years old, and live in Lincoln, California. I have been visiting this forum for a while now. I've had a 38 buick special coupe for almost 3 years now. It's got a straight eight with the original top loader 3 speed. My dream has always been to rebuild the straight eight high performance rather than put a modern engine in it just for the novelty aspect. I want to put an overdrive in it too. I already have a totally complete reconditioned 41 compound manifold with Carters, it's like brand new.
Welcome from Northwest Arkansas. That's cool that you want to keep the straight eight in your car. It would definitely be cooler than the cookie cutter 350.
One thing I love about a strait 8 is the smoothness at idle.Always wanted to put one in a model a.Ahhh someday Im gonna do it when I grow up.
Thanks you guys for the warm welcome! Sorry it took a few days to reply. I couldn't find my original post for a while is the reason for the delay. Are the any other straight eight enthusiasts around the hamb that are easy to track down?
Greeetings! I have similar plans for my '39 Buick special. I want to keep it all original body and interior-wise, but I would like to beef-up the straight eight a little. Any suggestions, or parts leads would be greatly appreciated!
