Looking to get a WC T5 for my Model a coupe. Does anyone have any good contacts on anyone who sells them already rebuilt. I dont want to go through the h***le of finding a trans, swapping the tailshaft, getting it rebuilt, etc.

I want to get a trans that has been rebuilt and the tailshaft already swapped.

Anyone have any good leads, trans shops, etc. Preferably in So Cal.

    Thanks

Not sure if you are looking for a normal rebuild or a performance rebuild. They are not on the west coast, but if you are looking for a performance rebuild check out Halon Motorsports in PA. www.halonmotorsports.com

Experience has shown the most economical solution would be to buy a t5z new. The catalogue places have them for 1300$. Swaping the tailshaft housing is very simple but why do it? You can alter the shift lever to locate the knob to your preference. Also, d&d in wixom, mich. Is an excellent supplier (along w/others afore mentioned) for stuff t-5. I just finished my t-5 and only have 2000$ invested. Before i started, i was asking the same questions as you. Have fun!:d

The best deal you're going to find on a spec-built T5 with any alterations is a brand new TKO. That's why TKOs originally came into existence, cost-effectiveness for 5.0 guys wanting something better than a junkyard T5.

    good luck

You could do it yourself, of course. Pretty straight-forward...

I'm using a NV3500 5 speed from a '96 4.3 S10. Shifter in correct location. Good ratios. Attached bellhousing with hyd throw out brg. Plentiful and inexpensive. Mine was $200 with clutch and flywheel.

I to plan to use the nv3500. i have one behind my 94 s-10 with a 350 and 35 inch tires and it has held up great. any 2wd s-10 with the 4.3 will have the nv3500 which will bolt right up to a SBC.
