Are ford 8" gears still avavilable thru ford dealers? I'm looking for 3:50-3:90's for my 8". Anyone ahve any parts #'s or prices? jimV
im not a ford parts guy but i know you get richmond gears at JEGS for about 200.00 per set. thats probobly goining to be cheeper than OEM would be.call them 1-800-345-4545 24/7
Do a search on 8 inch. Should bring up some vendors for gears. I doubt Ford would have anything now as the 8 inch has been out of production for some time now. Got to find a good Ford parts guy to look it up. Most of them don't want to know unless its newer than 5 years old.
I've worked in a Ford dealership, at the parts counter for almost 3 years. Most everything today is 8.8. Also, Ford likes to discontinue a lot of stuff after 5-10 years, especially interior parts. I can check monday to see if anything is still available, but honestly, you'd get it cheaper from Jegs, Summit, etc. Time to upgrade to an 8.8, I got one for free at work not to long ago, ONLY 1500 miles! (it was in a 2003 Town Car, a funeral home had it and complained that it made noise, the tech drove 5 NEW T/C, and they ALL made the same hardly unnoticable noise!) It's amazing what they throw away, aluminum driveshafts, (I have 3) aluminum diffs out of Explorers/Mountaineers?Aviators, ( I have 4!). It's like Christmas everyday!! Eric
My Hollander lists a 3.80 ratio.......Ford part number C30Z4209D BUT I have never seen one. and I worked in a junk yard for years. The 3.50 and 3.55 can be found.....mostly under old 6 cylinder staraight drive Comets and Falcons, and not many of those around either. Broncos did not come with a 8 inch..........the 9 was standard.
Look for MII with the V8 or V6 also Pinto or Bobcats with the V6. They had 3.40's. They are also 1" narrower than the Maverick rears,
