I'm in Michigan and I'm looking for suggestions to get a current style interior job on my 33 Studebaker coupe, Krist out of Fort Wayne In. start at $8,000. another guy in Fl. near Dade City starts at $8,500. These are Leather and or Altra Leather, I'm well over $100.000. in the car now , so I want a good interior, any suggestions from some of you builders, Is their any good upholisters in Michigan that know how to do a fantastic job ? thanks for any suggestions. John Moffett
With over 6 figures in the car I would imagine you'd want better then good. IMHO the BEST is Fat Lucky in Austin, TX. Well worth the wait and money. He works outta the Austin Speed Shop.
John: If you're looking for a "current style" interior, this is probably the wrong place to be. It's TRADITIONAL stuff here. That doesn't mean someone doesn't know of an interior guy in Michigan that could fix you up. Just don't expect a lot of response. Personally, IF (big if) I had a hundred large in a car (I'd maybe be on suicide watch), but i would strongly consider a Paul Adkins interior. Even if it's a few bucks more then the "ballpark numbers" you already have, at least there could be (?) some degree of pedigree with a Paul Adkins interior. JMO Good luck. Stu
I probably would go with Krist if your looking into that style interior. Checkout Interiors by Shannon also. www.interiorsbyshannon.com. Hes also got a upholstery link on his site. Fat Luckys is the absolute best for Retro style interiors. The best! No question. www.austinspeedshop.com

He's been doing it for 50yrs took it over from his dad and moved from detroit area to out here
Have you seen any of Krists work? He did some for me, and I've seen others that I definatly would not be proud of. Expecially for that price. My Dad is restoring a 40 ford and is having a guy out of Ligoneer IN doing his, he was referred by wiseguy seats, find their number on the web and call them they could hook you up with lots of upolsterers in our area. If shipping is not a problem Fatluckys work is bad ***.

Cl***ic Auto upholstery in Tampa did an excellent job for a freind of mine, funny, she had her car at a shop just outside of Dade City, too, but they never got around to it ( Her car was there for 9 months wonder if it's the same place?) anyway Cl***ic had it back to her in reasonable time and they stood by the quoted price even though there was extra work that needed done.
Skips***ch hands down! When i actully ball up and have an interior done, hes the man. Hope all is well Appleman!! Henry...
All I know is traditional, and for that out west, Doug Winters is the man. Dougs Auto Trim in Scotts Bluff Nebraska. He's done cars for Pebble Beach and the GNRS that have won, and won things like the Bruce Meyer award for Hot Rod Preservation and the Dean Bachelor award. His work is "best quality" all the way. Here's a link some pics of my '40 Coupe while Doug had it at the shop. http://picasaweb.google.com/dougsau...****s?authkey=8u4Edafvi-M#5275982004604108146
Wilson's Upholstery here at Rockmart GA does some of the nicest work I've ever seen anywhere. Small shop, family owned business. A '55 Ford out of Cartersville GA that he did was featured in Street Rodder a year or so ago.
Ha ha... funny how things change my friend. I'd be honored to "unretire" to s***ch something Steadfast!
I will plug a SW Iowa guy, Jim Stanley who has done lots of nice cars, I was at his shop a month or two ago and there was a similar priced car being trimmed. @stanlow69 is his "name" on here.
