So I got this off the bay.... not sure if its a WEIAND... my guess is NO...but have not come across any info saying these DRAG STARS were ever reproduced.... Were they? were they m*** produced? or is this a one time deal? or original and really polished. thanks
Could be when they polished it they ground off all the letters and stuff. It sure looks like a weiand...
man I know... Its missing the ridges that connect the carb bases. Im not sure of the function of those...but they could? have been ground down
Oh boy Whitey, that **** is going to look killer on top of that Double Rocker! Looks like Weiand to be but like as it was stated earlier all of it has been ground down and polished. Can't wait too see what a few more hours of polishing will bring it. Nice score.
I was looking at a brand new one from one of the HAMB Alliance vendors. Some shop from Texas. North Central Speed Shop if my memory serves me.
yep Paul... Pretty much done with the parts gathering for the coupe. I have a NOS offy, adj rockers, chrome dimpled, six rebuilt 97s, thats probabally what will make it on top. This was an impulse buy...needed the carbs for another hemi...so I pulled the trigger. No one has a definite answer...called the typical hemi parts guys and got"I just dont know" man that motor looks killer with your stuff man.
Jeesh... I just saw two different high-rise 6x2 manifolds posted by you today?? Should we take cover? Run for the hills? Prepare to fight back??!! HAHA!! Oh... you ****. Almost forget that bit... Soo..... ?? What are you up to then?? Some mighty fine manifolds you have up today!
I'm jealous. Like really jealous... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/LABoWPO1s_A&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/LABoWPO1s_A&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Jeffrey...Polish I will...Need some advice man...Ill pm ya Now the challenge for me is to bring this body back.... Scoot thats the frame above the BOB and the ***s have been creating.
Oh yeah, I knew that! I was referring to your OTHER thread with the high-rise Weiand Drag Star! Sounds like you're up to no good, either way! LOL!
Penguins are BMFrs BUT I am from Pittsburgh. Just really learning the metal work as I go.... got no frame building and just minor fab skills....you and Scoot are serving them up... love what you guys are doing and thats the **** Im jealous of.
At first I thought you were taking a dig at my heritage but then it clicked! Hahahaha!!! Take it slow and steady with the body and I am sure you will be fine. Remember I have a solid '31 Chevy here if you need to trade. I just can't wait to see the body and frame make sweet sweet love to one another once you get it back. Big thing man, big things.
And dude, I think the next step for you is to shave the beard and shape the hair a bit to pay tribute to where you are from. Two Words....Jeremy Jagr
I can look at my Drag Star tonight but I'm pretty sure the one you have may be an Edelbrock, I don't think the Edelbrocks were as common as the Drag Star's.
Yeah...that looks like an Edelbrock...I can barely see the crossover tube and it appears much bigger than Weiand. Cool stuff!
NO NO... That is Whitey's frame as built by BOB BLEED at the Austin Speed Shop. My frame is not even on the same planet as that frame. COOL *** **** INDEED! I was trying to tempt whitey into 8 deuce bliss
I agree its a edelbrock. The edelbrock 6x2 had the larger cross tubes which in my eyes looks better than the dragstar. Which everway its a good score, well done!!
OH! Duh! I was so disgusted that you have two nice 6x2 manifolds I just skimmed over the pictures! HAHA! Definitely an edelbrock based on the balance tube sizes.
The balance tubes look the same as the low rise edelbrock... Ive never even seen a high rise hemi edelbrock...cant find a pic... They were really close to the shape of a weiand it appears...almost exact except for the large crossovers and the polished one I got has no ridges connecting the carb mount area. you can see the ridge on the front tube of the weiand on Jimmys car that B*** posted... man there close then....awesome. thanks for the response
I think you can tell for sure by where the carbs bolt on. According to my catalogs, the Edelbrock should have two divided holes for the carbs' throttle bores, and the Weiand should have an oval hole with no divider. I'm about 99.9% sure that you have an Edelbrock however.
Who the hell cares weather the cross over is big or small?? THE **** LOOKS *****IN ANY WAY YOU SLICE IT SO PUT IT ON!
Most likely only Chrysler Hemi's. At any rate...Good score on that manifold. I saw it on ebay not too long ago. I would of bid on it if it weren't for already acquiring a NOS lowrise Weiand DragStar. I give it till the end of the year before there's some sort of Hemi Group on here. Haha.
Looks like an edelbrock EC6 to me. These suit only chrysler hemis. The holes below the carb mounts were not standard and added later, that is how I bought them. Muzz
