I have a hard pedal on my 61 Olds Dynamic 88. This is what I have done so far: New Booster, new dual master, adjusted shoes, checked vacuum (15-16in) I am at a loss, Please Help! Photo attached Thanks Pat<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message --><!-- attachments -->
Are you sure the new booster is working, and are you using vacuum brake hose or fuel hose?. You have to use vbh because it is constructed so that the inside lining won't collapse as the vacuum level rises. It will be sized 11/32 inch id, printed on the hose. Whatever subs***ute the guy in the parts store tells you "will work", it won't. You can check the booster by pumping the pedal a few times to eliminate any residual vacuum, then hold your foot hard on the pedal and start the engine. The pedal should settle down about a half inch or so when the engine starts. If not wrong hose or bad booster. I am ***uming that this is an OEM style replacement booster and not a conversion.
What is the bore size on the master cylinder? The larger the bore, the harder the pedal feel (more leg force required).
You may have the wrong master cylinder, you could have a manual master cylinder in stead of one for power brakes. The internal piston could not be the same. Grumpy
Thanks for your help. I got it figured out now. I installed a PCV valve so I could remove the draft tube and it was robbing vacuum. Removed it and all is well. Thanks again Pat
