Nope, if you look at the Touring when i had it there were recap radials on the back. The 54 has radials. To me a consumable like tires has nothing to do with blasting down the road traditionally . If I wanted to roll around town and posture I would have some bias plys, in fact, go read the Rollin Bones guys experiences. They said **** Coker for real world running and keep the bias plys at home when they travel.
Can someone please shoot me a PM when we get back to "radials ****" status here on the HAMB? Just so I know its safe to log back in? Perhaps Ryan should consider proclaiming a HAMB state of disaster until that time comes?
Traditional in hotrodding is like trad-style rock climbing. There is a bit of a sliding boundries to both with the exception of a few hard core die hards. And I commend them that stick to, in our case, an exact date and style. I also shoot flintlock, to me, a percussion gun is a modern piece. *** for tat.
But arent radials kinda like fat girls and scooters? I understand where you're comin from, but tires are just the beginning of inconvenience and lack of comfort. With a wife and 2 kids that have come to love this stuff too, I came to similar conclusions. Rather than neuter my hot rod, I decided to build a custom. It will have AC, power brakes and one single wimpy carb, but it will all be under a hood. It will even have radials and windshield wipers. So apparently my car is just as gay, but me and the 51 still in the closet.
Tires all look round when they're rolling. If you dig having some fat stripper snail-track your paint for an OSR photo shoot, go for the bias. If you actually drive your ride, it's radials. And yeah, I think it looks meatier with the blackwalls.
There is no doubt that bias plies look the part. There is also a reason why we ditched them as soon a good radials were available at an affordable price. I've driven plenty of both. I drive my hot rods, I will have radials!!
Simple. Run radials for traveling quickly and safely. When you arrive, install the worn out bias plies to placate the Flat Earth Society members. Talk about mul***asking, some of you guys are a weird combo of hot rodder and Ludite.
since your a swayze AND a road house fan (which I am too) remember, "pain dont hurt" ... now go get some bias ply tires and take the ride, its worth the looks
Ah, the casual literary reference, so missing in our world today. I had a heck of a time getting through that book, love the subject matter, just couldn't get my head around the writing.
Nice ride, no matter what tires you have...but if you drive it 10K a year it's better to be comfortable. I ride on radials and get **** once in a while but my rod drives better on the freeway which makes me feel a bit safer, and I paid for mine!
So im taking it that you like the feel of rubber?? Haha, just joking man, really clean car you have there, what kind of top you running?
