This morning I woke up and I was as happy as one man could be because of my dream. I had a dream last night that I went to a yard sale and this guy was selling a Dodge Charger with a 757. I never heard of such motor but from what I recall in my dream it had dual carburators that were almost the size of spare wheels. The valve covers were insanely big and so was the oild pan. The guy was only selling it for $500. Would it be insane of someone made a motor like that or if you actually found a deal like that. So after having that dream I help but to share with you guys and ask whats your wildest hot rod dream you've ever had.
About a year after my Dad p***ed... I found myself standing on the curb of the most well kept road side rest areas I've ever seen. It was the typical pull through type, landscaped with desert style plants, rocks, and gravel. Looking around the area it was not unlike Utah, with tall red rock formations, and rainbow colored swirls of minerals. The sky was as blue as I had ever seen it with only small white puffs of clouds floating in the horizon. To the west the road dropped of and turned, giving the impression of a valley beyond just out of site. And I walked to the edge of the road to see beyond, but could not. In the middle of this road side rest area was a small office that was surrounded by some of the most beautiful cars I had ever seen. Cars that would excite every interest, From traditional to rice burner. All where represented. Some were pulling in, others pulling out, and others parked. Out of this office came a smiling park ranger who must have seen the look on my face, because he walked up to me and said "Awesome isn't it?" I agreed, and he told me until I made the corner and made my way down, I had seen nothing. It was then a VERY low and VERY chopped 50 Chevy pulled up to me. It was White, and midnight blue, with a ton of shinning chrome. I bent down and the inside was just as white, with blue piping. Gorgeous! There behind the wheel was my Dad, he was no longer gray, thin, and bent. His Black hair was greased back and shinning the way I remembered it, He was wearing his trademark jeans and white t-shirt, with a pack of Winston's rolled up in the sleeve. His youth had returned. He smiled at me, and said. "Come on son, hop in. It's time to go and I have the perfect place all picked out for us. I got in, and then woke up......
I had a dream about me, Ann Margaret and a hot rod .... uh ... wait ... I better not tell this story....
I had a great dream about a week ago. I was at a used car lot and everything in it was from the 50's and older. The car salesman was Kurt Russell (very befitting) and he was trying to push a baby blue '59 Hillman Minx on me for $1200. Next thing I know I'm driving down the road in a dark blue '48 Mercury coupe. Then I'm at a Sonic drive in and my wife is next to me and we're in a '56 Mercury Montclair, two tone orange and white. Then I woke up. It was about 4am and I woke my wife and told her about the dream. I figured I would forget it so I wanted to remember it, and she's the best way for me to remember anything...lol I asked her the next day to tell back to me what I had told her as I couldn't remember it all (see?). Well, she refreshed my memory and it was then I realized that every single one of those cars were cars that my Dad had owned...even the color. Except they were new when he bought them. As for actually living my hotrod dream, I found it in my hot rod loving wife... This is a good thread. Good idea.
I have a couple recurring dreams that I have often enough. One involves driving with an unknown freind to a random older mans house to look at some old cars. This man has everything, and I mean everything you could ever want, '32 coupe bodies are everywhere, there are always old Ford coupe-bodied dirt trackers in the rundown yard, as well as various 30's and '40's Ford parts cars. All of it is for sale, all it priced low. Another dream I have less frequently, but still regularly is being in a hobby shop that is stocked full of rare hot rod and drag racing models. The funny thing is, I haven't built a model car in 15 years or so, but when I'm in the dream, I'm on a buying spree. Wierd...
