Heading to London, England...I Want To Do Car Stuff!!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by BloodyKnuckles, May 2, 2009.

  1. Heather and I are heading to London on May 16th and will be there until the 23rd. We have a show to attend at the Olympia Center (?) for 2 days but the rest of the time we are pretty much free. She said that we should hook up with some HAMBers while we are there. I couldn't agree more!

So any bit of car related recommendations would be great.

    Thanks,

  4. Ace Cafe! Great place with history, and always car & bike stuff going. Took my family there around Christmas time and they started up a couple of fuel cars in the parking lot!

BloodyKnuckles, I know it ain't car related, but Duxford is well worth a look.Lots of fantastic planes to go and see, Its' also very moving to see the names of those who lost their lives fighting for freedom.Theres' also a land warfare hall lots of nice tanks!

Don't forget all the touristy stuff too. The history in that city is fascinating. Tower of London, Trafalger Square, look kids Big Ben, etc.. Soho is pretty cool too. It's been a while since I was there though, about 15 years.

I went on a river tour on the Thames and the guide was talking about how clean the river is nowadays. And at that exact moment a house door goes floating down the river past the boat, lol. :D

Have fun and pip pip cheerio. God Save the Queen, etc..

  9. While you are gone I'm gonna fly back to NC and load up your plymouth and donkify your skylark with 30" wheels...have a nice trip...ditto on the Ace Cafe...have heard it's pretty cool

Make sure you send a note to Robin on the P15 board. He and his wife have metup with several members visiting London. Probably no better way to roll the city than in his convertible.

If you long for some good old southern cooking while you are in London check out the Lone Star Cafe near Piccadilly Circus square. The only place I have found there to get a Chicken fried stake and Ice tea.

  16. make sure to sample some Old Peculiar Beer from Theakston. My favorite bloody beer.

  17. I'm workin' on it...nothing here in SoCal is selling...be careful not to make your trip like the Beverly Hillbillies when they went to London...just kiddin'...I'll get there eventually either in a hot rod or an urn...scatter my ashes on Lake Norman for me

As much as I like cars, I wouldn't do a dang thing having to do with em If I found myself in England. I think I would spend some time seeing the sights and stuff.

Ace cafe is cool. Use to go there when it newly reopened. Also Chelsea cruise if its still going. If you need a car service I'll put you in contact with one of my firends MisterT. As the name suggest he has a nice Model T, in fact Langy probably knows him.

What you need is someone in a Car (pref Rod) who lives near to where you are staying, that would be prepared to pick you up and take you to these places. Lord Purples breakfast run is a must. Is there anyone on here from the UK who could help?
I live 300+ mile away so not me ;o)

If you're staying anywhere in South London (I'm in Croydon) I can give you a lift to the Breakfast run (you'll have to put up with a 67 Camaro rather than a rod though).

Bloody Hell, BloodyKnuckles going to Bloody London. Pick up a pair of those heavy duty Wool socks for Tudor, once he's tried them he'll never use cotton again. Just make sure thier dark colored so the stains don't show in case he ever wants to wear them.

I guess this means the "Gasser" is on hold a little more. When I told you to remember that you were in the south now and needed to slow down I wasn't serious.
