Rhinebeck / Not Rainbeck anymore

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 2many projects, May 4, 2009.

  1. The Duchess County Fairground swap meet in Rhinebeck was awesome this past weekend.
    No rain either........go figure!
The only bummer was Linnehan - Lopez's Restaurant on the way to Red Hook was closed up.
Sign of the times I guess.
Instead we ate at Tin Pan Alley on the opposite side of the road
    (Route 25).
Ask for Maureen to be your waitress.
What an excellent meal, great drinks and super friendly people!

Can't wait 'till The Good Guys event hits town the end of next month.
Gotta get a move on and get one of my cars running for that one.

Spring Rhinebeck can go either way weather-wise .Like Goodguys show in Sept, but this was an awesome weekend.

I think Goodguys moving their show to end of June was a good move. Now if they would only lower their prices,I might go......

So did you find any goodies? How was the vendor turnout compared to past years?

Been there in the rain. Miserable. My buddy had his camper stuck in the mud for a week! When the weather is good there is no more beautiful place. My favorite memory of a good weather Rhinebeck was when we were heading back over to Kingston from the fairgrounds and had to stop on the road for about 5 minutes while 2 bear cubs that had wandered out of the state park wrestled and played in the middle of the road! Really cool! They were completely oblivious to a bunch of goofy hotrodders.

  6. I found a couple of parts I might have needed for future projects but I procrastinated too long and lost them when I walked back to their spots later.
My buddies did very well. they found numerous early Corvette stuff and other street rod items that they bought very reasonable.
The rocky economy is forcing me to be very particular on what I want vs. what I need.
I need a new welder, my compressor is running on borrowed time, the backup compressor just failed and 2 of my cars need paint jobs and upholstery work.
Can only do a little at a time right now.
The best part of the whole weekend.........just hanging out with great people!
