New to the site and also building cars, but have a question. I am looking to build something but want to use new parts. I found Brookville here. Anybody else make new steel bodies and frames? What are some options? Looking to build something from the 30's.

    Thanks

depends on what type of body you are looking for but brookville is best quality.... the only drawback is they know it and you pay for it

Looking for something with a back seat, don't really care if it's 2 door or 4. I seen a '36 Chev that was a 2 door with a back seat. Sorry for my lack of knowledge, real new to this stuff. Anybody else know of a source besides Brookville? Is it Brookville or find something old?

Hey, thanks for responding. Maybe I'm lazy or just don't want to completely destroy my garage tearing apart an original so the idea of new appeals to me.

If I end up finding something original, how do I start? Craigs list or E-Bay?

One more question. How many posts 'till I'm no longer an FNG?

at this speed. . . maybe a week! :D then you are a newbie. . . then a grenade inspector. . . get the idea? its a long road to have some selfworth!:D

BTW. instead of posting this type of questions. . .maybe use the search engine feature in this website. it will help you so much. . .

  7. you can find potential projects at swap meets , garage sales , word of mouth (talk to all your friends/neighbors/relatives) , your local newspaper, etc. go to car shows and cruises where old car guys hang out and ask. online at websites like: hemmings motor news , ebay , craigslist, fordbarn , hamb want ads , auto trader. i think every car i have ever built for myself found me...i wasn't even looking for them

as for being a FNG , you just joined...you will be one for a long time. i've been here for 7 years and i still consider myself new. don't get caught up in titles. hang around and learn , ask questions and contribute if you can

Might look over in the Classified section and also its starting to warm up, go to as many shows and cruise-ins as possible. You may find something that is either "IT" or something you could make minor changes to and have what you want. Take your time and don't buy something unless its close to what you want.

  9. Like's been stated above, the internet is an amazing tool for a hot rodder. You can find just about anything you can think of on here. New, used, parts, advice. There's LOTS of sites for hot rodding and other facets of the motoring hobby. Just do some hunting. You can get lots of sage advice on the HAMB.
About the fastest and cheapest way to get into a rod is buy a project or almost done car that has most of what you want. If you don't have a lot of experience sometimes that's the best way to go. you can learn as you go along. There's a lot of good literature on rodding too. Just check out the library or book stores.

  10. May 16th and 17th is the big automotive swap meet in Monroe at the fairgrounds. Maybe you can find a project there.
