I posted these a few years ago but thought they might be good again. This is Latimore way before the Jalopy Showdown. Maybe this is why the place feels so right.
Those pictures are so cool,,,,,I think I remember being at Latimore with my father one time in the late 50s. There are so many old pictures in the museum there on the grounds of Latimore and the history of how the cars evolved, sure am glad that we took the time to go through it. Thanks for posting and see you next week !!!
That picture of the little guy in the leather helmet... that grin... could it be Lynn Paxton? I don't know him that well, so it's just a guess... but sure looks like the same mischevious grin... haha Can't wait for the show... and the caravan to and from... gonna be a blast!
Know what year the photos are from, Larry? My Great Grandfather had a race car and supposedly ran there around 1938. I'd love to find some photos.
Awesome pictures, this is my favorite show on the East Coast (even though it's about 6 hours from the coast).
Thanks for posting the pics. Always loved seeing people having fun. If this ******** weather doesn't soon change, some of you might want to stop at the local Tractor Supply company and pick up some waders or at least a pair of galoshes. It's beginning to feel like Seattle and look like the 'Glades. I'll be the guy in the orange slicker and standing on stilts.
You must have been somewhere else, because Latimore closed down in 1939 when Williams Grove opened. Maybe you remember being at the Grove.
