Come on guys.....if we can drive from Arizona to MO, they can drive from Cali.....El Polacko drove his twin turbo truck there, raced it and drove it back.....they can tow the PPE there. I would love to race it. . .
I don't think anyone on here expects to see an 8 sec. time slip. I do think that all of us hope it can do a full on burnout and a full p*** regardless of the time. I would bet that the car is a handful to drive, given it's short wheelbase and Fuel altered-ish engine placement. I personally hope that the stars align and the PPE writes the next page in its awesome diary!!!!!!
Marky - I hope this experience inspired you to consider MoKan. I'm trying to figure a way to get my car there this year. Who knows, maybe we can have a cartoon car shootout? Anyway, best of luck and let me know if I can be of any help. Scotty
Hey Guys, I just talked to Marky and let him know about this cool thread on his car. He's totally stoked but his computer is down so he wanted me to get on here and and say thanks to everyone, especially Zombie, ****, Randy and all the boys who made this happen! Yes it took a lot of restraint for him just to idle it down the track, but respecting the wishes of the track owners was more important. Maybe next time they will trust him to go a little faster! Now I think he's got the bug and really wants to see what the car will do! I mentioned to him what Ryan said about the HAMB drags and he was very interested! In fact, he's all for it but is worried he may not have the money it would take to get out there and back. Do you guys have any idea how much gas would cost for his truck and trailer round trip? My guess would be about $1200-1300 with the prices not going too much higher then they are now. I think the whole trip would cost about $1700 on the cheap. Some of us Shifters will pitch in for sure and hopefully make this happen!
Don't know how much this would help, but I'll make the offer anyhow. I'll bet him $50 to a beer he can't beat me at Mokan for the HAMB Drags. My best so far is mid 12's. Don't even have to line 'em up together if eveybody is more comfortable with him making single p***es. He shows up and runs better than my best that day, I'll give him two 20's and a 10 at the track. If he runs slower, he owes me a beer in the parking lot on Saturday Night. Anybody else willing to step up to a similar bet to "help" fund the trip?
About everything about it won't p*** tech. There asked 'n' answered. Now back to it. Bring it to MOKAN it'll be a hoot. marky I ment to say I'm probably good for a meal or a tank of gas if you make the trip.
I'll take the same bet as Buzzard and give PPE owner $100 if I can drive it. That car will haul *** but you can't let off till you see God.
I am the first one that suggested it... I got $20 on gas for sure.. I can drop it off at his house. I live right by there... lets get it going... $1680 to go!
Step it up folks... Lets get this done.... I think we should also have a side bet Maybe $5 dollars and you can submit what you think it will run and the money can go to HAMB ANDY FUND!
Looks like he had a little trouble seeing the tree from the left lane. Kind of like seeing a Hot Wheel come to life. Very Cool!
I'd be willing to send a few bucks to help get this done, even though I'll never make it to MoKan to see PPE run in person. Some things just HAVE to be DONE, ya know? Marky running this down the track, full bore, would totally be what our "forefathers" REALLY did.....it's just gotta be done....
Cool! Lets try and make this happen. I'll talk to him and the rest of the guys tonight and see if we can get some money together for the journey!
LA to Joplin is 1550 miles one way x 2 = 3100 / 12 MPG = 258 gallons @ 2.40 per gallon is $619 if he gets 10 MPG your at about $744.........I aint no Math-a-matician though. You guys are welcome to run along with us from Phoenix. We will leave Wednesday or Thursday with a large pusher motorhome.
Do you think his motorhome would make it? I would be down to pitch in for the ride. That would be the ultimate party bus! haha Plus I got family we could visit and use his shower etc in albuquerque. that would be about the half way point. I figure about 2 full days of driving each way.
i love that thing..the high center of gravity would be kind of scary if it decided to go sideways which it seems like it might want to...its *****in
That would be the way to do it Ollin because you could save on hotel rooms. The only problem is that the motorhome is a total gas guzzler so it may not be worth it.
Sam, thanks for the video. What will not p*** tech? -------EDIT------ EDIT: Since I did not to give out bad info, here's a rundown of the 2009 rules. http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/nhra_legal_rules_regulations_time_brackets/index.html You may ask why NHRA? Because Famoso is a NHRA track. They can't just decide to toss the rules for one night or even 2 minutes on a whim or serious desire. BTW, if there is a way for me to kick in to the PPE tour fund, let me know.
You probably could have seen both sides of the car from the stands in one p***... Covering almost a half mile in a quater mile stretch. Pretty kool though....
Lippy,,,you da man........... if we can get him to the HAMB, we can some match racing. The PPE -vs- The GizzleHopper
I wasn't planning on making the Drags this year, but if the PPE is coming to run... I might have to rethink things. I hope Marky does too. Unless its changed since I last saw pictures of it... there is a lot to do to make that car safe for him to drive. (not worried about p***ing tech... just worried about driver safety) I'd hate to see him get hurt and/or wreck that car. But I hope he can make it.
