That's a nice car. Not a 32 but one cool little A, worth the bucks. Could be worst, a guy here new to the sport bought a "32 Ford roadster" from this local hack shop for $25 grand, thought he made a good deal cause he did his "homework" (watched B-J). I warned him but he still proudly displayed a sign saying 32 Ford on his kit car (not even a good reproduction gl*** car, a POS that sorta resemembled a Ford) at his first show. He sure got educated fast. How many newbies buy a "Street Beast" thinking they are 34 Fords?
Looking at his profile he has some A's already. You think he would have known the difference. Cool car for the money though, very cool.
I luv me some street beasts... I wanna build a g***er one and call it "The Beast of Burden."* *....god I hate street beasts with a p***ion. I know that is not rational and I should not be that way but somehow every owner of one that has crossed my path has been a jerk.
yeah the car is a solid car and has had some nice custom details done to it. The frame is Heavy T from the front, all the way back to the front of the rear wheel well. It is likely it has had 32 front frame horns grafted onto the front, thus the spreader bar. The car is definitely well worth the money! Great seeing you at the Dragfest Jim, when do I get my T-shirt?
they open out..hinges are on the outside too..look at a 28-9 Model A..you will see what he means the over lap is the door..not the body..like henry forgot to put the doors on,, as if the doors were an after thought..
Thanks for the info. you are absolutely right. My face is red about the year, it is a 31. But I still love the car. All of you guys that said enjoy the ride and I will and thanks for that. For all you guys that got disjointed, chill, sorry for the high blood pressure. No changes to the car, just needs cleaning. please forgive the stupidly. But none of us are ever to old to learn............except me !
well good for you sonny, I hope your tooth brush gets those bugs out of your teeth.. I know that if it were mine i would be driving the **** out of it with a grin a mile wide..
I agree, it was a good deal. Compare that *****in' little roadster with a same-price econo-box. Easy choice . . . no?
not to mention the possible resale value of the Rod compaired to the econo-box even in one years time chances are the rod will stay or increase..the econo-box will drop off like a ton of **** the minute it rolls off the lot
1. You bought a REAL NICE hot rod with race cred. (apparently) 2. You paid fair money for a nice A roadster 3. You brought it onto this site and the crew gave you some tough love - BUT that's better on here than having some guy walk away from a conversation thinking your a ****! This is what this place does best. 4. You stood up for the trip and you STILL have a fine little car. Now go out and burn the tires off it - hey it no precious '32. Ha!
Whatever's been said above I think your rod is way cool. You did good. It looks like it's a blast to drive.
Not to be picky, (and I could be wrong,) but are those radial tires on the rear? The fronts definitely look like bias ply. I wasnt aware of being able to mix and match, but, like I said, I could be wrong. I agree with everyone that said nice car, good score. Have fun with it.
you can mix as long as radials are behind the bias ply... the radials will follow the bias- a lot of guys do this with bias/recap slick combos. Tuck
I'd still contact the former owner like I suggested and find out more about the history of the car. I will only make it worth more and would be important to a new owner should you ever sell. If he's an old guy, that legacy would die with him. I'd want to know more about the build, who, when and what parts (since you didn't know when you bought it). Did it ever really race back in the day? What other stories can he share, etc?
I think you came out great to get a steel roadster that nice with slick black paint for what you paid. Drive and enjoy!
