How does the windshield hinge on a Model A? I don't have any of the original hardware just the frame and was thinking about using a piano hinge on the top or something. Secondly, when I bought this car it came mostly mocked up and where the front bones attach to the spring pivot it has an add on shock mount at the bottom but it appears the spring pivot is not long enough to get a nut all the way on at the bottom. Anybody know what I am talking about and have a suggestion? I don't have a camera today for pics.
there is an upper hinge that screws to the upper window header and the windshield frame has the other part of the "curled" hinge you slide the two togeather from one side of the car kind of like taking the fingers from your left hand and forming a C than turn your right hand over and form the opposite C and that makes your hinge..you can buy the upper hinge from snyders and other A parts houses
if my discription is hard to follow..let me know..I have mine off right now and can take pictures for you
where the front bones attach to the spring pivot it has an add on shock mount at the bottom but it appears the spring pivot is not long enough to get a nut all the way on at the bottom. There is a longer (Pete & Jake's) spring hanger shank for that installation. You have a pair of stock Model A thru '34 type. Speedway Motors has these longer ones, as does Ch***is Engineering, P&J, SoCal, etc. They were mfd longer for use with those shock brackets.
you can buy that hinge new i cant remember where ill try to find it agian and let you know i need on for mine too
