You remember those things that used to be free with every shock set? Apparently, those are overhead because you can't find them now. I had one from a previous shock set but I can't find the other one. It's a 1/2-20 stud with a 5/8" shoulder for a shock with the eye. I bought the shocks we were discussing on a previous thread. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=358347 I talked with both parts stores in the area and they looked in all their books. No luck. The shocks I ended up with were the Monroe 5752. That's the shortest shock I found in a production shock. Parts guys to the rescue.
The last set I got came out of a set of shocks I purchased. They were for the rear of a chevy half ton truck - think 80s model. My buddies at the parts store pulled'em out for me and defected the boxes and sent'em back.
I know socal speedshop has them, I just bought some. They were like $20 though! for polished stainless
Monroe part #'s for 1/2 thread CP1, CP2,CP3, CP4. They measure the shaft length from 1/2 way in the ring mount to the backside of the stud mount. CP1 1-1/16 CP2 1-3/16 CP3 1-5/16 CP4 1-1/2 Hope this helps, if any questions the specs are in the Monroe on-line catalog under misc info .
look for shoulder bolts at the hardware store..... I don`t know if they make them in fine thread though.
Went through same thing myself a few weeks ago. If you cant give the clowns behind the counter a year make and model your out of luck. I remembered I had a mid 80s Chev truck that the shocks came with those studs as mentioned above.
Thanks guys. I should have tried to get them BEFORE I built my brackets. I'll check out all of the leads I have here.
Not at our O'reillys. It was a 1/2" bolt with some lame washers. I can have stuff here the next day with Speedway. It's amazing how fast it gets here.
They came with the shocks I bought for my '64 Chevy truck. I think they were Monroe's from O'reilly. I probably have 6 or 7 pairs in my toolbox.
