my neighbor did the audio for it. while i've never seen it, the pictures he had of the car were awesome. Billy pinstriped a fender guitar for him as a thank-you. Never met him, but from what i hear, he's real cool and appreciative of his fans.

If you want to read a real cool book pick up "Rock + Roll Gearhead" by B.F.G. It's basically ZZ Tops history and has Billy's car and Guitar collections in it. A great Coffee Table book.

I met Pete Chapouris out of context. He was just another customer.I had a 50 chevy hardtop at the time, probably 1989 or so.He comes into Goodtime Charlies and says he used to have a hardtop like that.I told him that's cool and went about my job.I had no idea who he was.So I'm working on him and Jack comes in and walks by,does a turn around and asks him if he is Pete Chapouris.Pete says ya and damned if I didn't give him his first tattoo.Nice guy before and after I knew he was famous.

Just rolled in from the Weekend in Napier. It was bloody AMAZING and worth every penny spent. The slide sho that Billy and Pete put on at the do on saturday nite was unbelievable. Such an amazing amount of history that the two of them presented. Hung out with us all day during the rod run just like regular kiwi blokes. Both are truly kool guys and legends of rodding.

  10. Some of you will know Ricki Wood, I got an email from him this morning:

"i was at work last night and an american guy comes up and hands me $10 and asks for hotel california. without really looking at him i say '$10 wont even buy you the first 2 chords mate'. hahaha. then he hands his card to one of my mates, and my mate hands it to me saying 'hey do you know this guy?'. i look at the card and its Pete Chapouris of so-cal. hahahaha. so i got my mate to play and i went and had a few shots with pete and talked hot rods for a bit. hes a kool as guy and we talked for quite a while. he even remembered me from in the usa, as we met at a 50th birthday of one of his staff (john west) that i went to in lake arrowhead in august last year. what an awesome way to spend my last night at work before i head to aussie. I bet if he wanted, he could lose the hat, beard and glasses and no one would look twice. At the end of the car show on Sunday, he did imply that he would return next year.... Heres hoping.
